ahhhh a woman after my own heart :)

it is cruel in a way, but i watch this person and their lifestyle choices and shake my head, i have had many a discussion with them and always the answer is live for the moment and one that i seem to struggle getting my head around ... its ok for you you have more money coming in... but when we actually got down to figures she has over £1k more than us per month coming in ... but no pension at all and no savings and i think ... how on earth do you manage to spend all that money

Oh my word ... I have to say, I probably slide on by when I meet people like that. If it develops in a friend, there's probably other developments at the same time that mean the friendship doesn't work any more. I don't cut someone because of their spending patterns, of course, things are just ... different. There isn't the meeting of minds, sort of thing.

One of my friends (who is actually relatively well paid) is always skint and really struggles - still renting and hoping to buy in her 50s but she was telling me the other day of how she's found a holiday booking thing that means you don't have to pay til you go... eh but you still have to pay for it so why not save now instead of paying interest on credit card?:( She was also telling me there's no point saving a pound here and there on own brand stuff at supermarket. I've found it's easier to say nothing but did say well if it's a pound on ten things that's a tenner but just got a look:rotfl::rotfl: love her really but we'll never agree!

    Council tax -£56
    Food -£55
    Utilities -£66
    Car -£20
    Broadband -£11 (including line rental)
    Mobiles -£15

Crikey! Is that per week or per month? And I'm assuming for two people? We spend waaay more on food, car stuff and utilities...

Ahhh that makes more sense! I was wondering where in Scotland you could pay so little for council tax for two people and £55 for food:rotfl::rotfl:

    Aaaah! That makes more sense!

I'm now around page 40 of your diary and you have just reminded me of the need to save for a new car as well as maintaining the one we've got. It's so obvious but I had completely overlooked it :o
