2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(
  • What is this orange ball you speak of? Everyone knows the sky is grey or black....?

Has anyone else ever tried an online consumerism detox?

I have been unsubscribing from every email list that contacts me - it is proving very relaxing :) Haven't had more than 5 emails a day for the last fortnight.

Part of my attempts to simplify, hopefully it will help me spend less.

I am thinking about my priorities and have updated my signature accordingly - MFW from a different perspective :)

Last driving lesson before my test tomorrow, my how the time flies! Let's hope it goes better than my disastrous mock test on Sunday where I was pants at roundabouts and went the wrong way - twice
  • Good luck for the driving test. We will all be with you in spirit - not sure that will help you at all actually but you get the spirit of the message :rotfl:

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • Good luck with the test.

And yes, online detox is bliss. In fact I have come close before to unplugging altogether. I'd love to ditch my mobile, TV and internet but exisiting and earning without is very hard in the modern world. If the opportunity arises though, I will.

Trouble is, we become slave to our tools.....they own us.
  • Good luck with the driving test. You will feel great when it is over...but will you buy a car then?
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
