    • Smiled, was pleasant and pretended to be interested until at least 3 p.m.

Crikey, that's a whole week's worth . What are you going to do the next 4 days ;).

Glad you survived ok. Some of us started back last week you know :(.

  • I was back last week, but I guess this is the first 'proper' week and it still sucks the same as it did before the break - did anyone expect any different?! ;-)

Sounds like you hit the ground running though, so top marks for enthusiasm!! LOL!

Well, that could've been worse! Today is the start of my reporting week at work, the time of the month when we chase down senior managers for statistics and comments and they try their hardest to avoid us

What I had forgotten is that as everyone else was just coming back from their holidays as well, nobody was in the mood to send anything in. So actual work will probably not kick back in for a couple of days.

Today I have been fairly well behaved on the MFW front:
    • Stoozed a few small spends (over £1k stoozed at 3% now)
    • Smiled, was pleasant and pretended to be interested until at least 3 p.m.
    • Increased our monthly S&S ISA DD up to £55/mth (a 10% increase for 2013, trying to stick to this each year)
    • Sold an item on eBay, 50% of the proceeds going into the EF
    • Made a few small account tidies and added £5 to the EF

Nackered now, the oven is making dinner :rotfl:

How did everyone else cope being back?

It was fine as I don't start back until tomorrow :j/:( depending on how you look at it

I've been back for a week and half: can't wait to get a new job!

Hope it's not too much of a trauma for you! ;)

Well, the rest of the week was, erm, interesting.

Work was particularly stressful, with all of my lovely colleagues being their usual, obstructive selves ;) I have a new boss, who literally hasn't spoken more than 2-3 sentences to me all week and is clearly even less interested than the compliancy side of what we do than the disinterested souls who preceded her. I had a minor meltdown midweek and Mrs E had to patch me back together with the reminder that this isn't forever :o

Still, it got me to put my job searching skills back into gear and I have already applied for a customer service role with a well known stockbroker. Not particularly well paid, but reasonable, with the possibility of a bonus and good training.

Tbh, I'm not sure I'd be considered for a call centre role these days, but I do have an interest in finance and can give a decent account of myself if I get an interview.

Positives and negatives on the MFW front this week. Bad - our old energy supplier threatening us for an 'overdue' bill of £94 that a) we never received in the first place and b) we received the reminder 3 weeks after it was sent! Good - Mrs E took more money out of Zopa and I have made several small payments to our Emergency Fund. We have now smashed through the 50% mark and will hopefully be closer to 70% when we get paid in a fortnight :T

We have taken down our Christmas decorations now and the flat looks so empty :( I did take the chance to pack away quite a few boxes from our spare room to the hall cupboard and we've had a mini clearout as well. Good on the spring cleaning front, but not so much with the cheer front.

Confession time - I have already booked my annual leave for Christmas 2013 :snow_laug

Chin up Ed, you'll find another job soon that will be more fulfilling and an employer more appreciate of your skills...
  • Mr E, you are the King of Christmas 2013. I thought I was organised :):):)

Sorry to hear work is frustrating. Don't forget to use all your contacts to find a new role, keep L!nked In updated with your CV as its a good option for job hunting.

    Best wishes Tilly x

I'm not sure I *have* any contacts.... Part of the problem of being generally c@rp at social situations (very much afflicted by social anxiety) is that I don't tend to keep in touch with previous employers :o

Also unsure what to do re. presenting my skills because I sort of got half way into a library career, but then changed into more corporate compliance stuff when Mrs E wanted to come back to Glasgow.

I suppose I feel a bit like a Jack of all trades, in the negative way.
