I've not disappeared, just trying to have a less monomaniacal focus on MFW :rotfl:

Keeping pretty busy in real life, with changing duties at work, a colleague retiring and a new boss. Who has so far made a terrible impression, but I live in hope. I've had the 'I'm willing to try new things, but if you want me to do lots more, let's write an appropriate contract' conversation. Didn't seem to go down too badly, but always a risk. We recently got the results of our staff survey and in a funny way, it's good to see that morale is at an all time low! Things can only get better, right?

Mrs E and I are good, we both have theory tests booked, mine is on the 23rd of Feb. I am currently mastering parallel parking, so feeling more like a real driver every day :)

I started week 4 of the NHS Couch to 5k podcasts this morning and it's getting a little bit easier. I'm zonked, but at least I haven't been backsliding. I even managed to get up at 6 a.m on Friday and went jogging *before* work. Not the best idea ever, but I'm still [STRIKE]standing[/STRIKE] sitting tiredly.

Some progress has been made on the Emergency Fund, but not as much as I like. Driving lessons are a gigantic vampire squid that takes all of our money
  • Good to see you back Ed: I was just about to bring a big stick over to prod you with and say 'Oi! It's not January anymore...get your bahookie in gear!' ;)

Glad to see things are going well and that you are nearly a proper driver now...think office the expense as a giant vampire squid you will only have to slay once! ;)

    Fair point PB!

Grim day today - trying to turn contract legalese into useful spreadsheets and got soaked twice (rain and snow).

On the positive side, my Valentine's card from Mrs E arrived from Folksy. One of Mrs E's pals has a shop selling lovely handmade cards and paper goods and it's well worth a peek.

Anyway, where are you? Come back else I may have to move in and thread-share! ;)

  • Sounds like you're doing well with the NHS Couch to 5k. I tried this last year but decided after getting slower week on week that I really am not cut out for running! Good scheme though and the OH is just taking up running as we are both spreading a little in the middle! I'll stick to weights rather than streets but I am glad to see you giving it a go, keep it up!
  • you have made me feel guilty missed the gym for nearly a week, may have to go a walk ..... good luck on the test !!

Thanks Ultrarunner - my little sister was a great advocate for Park Runs, I also know a few other folk who do them. The main thing at this point is pacing myself, as too much enthusiasm is nearly my downfall! I'll be trying the podcast to get from work to home this afternoon. I think it's just over 6k by road, so my first 'real' distance. I'd like to get to the point where I could comfortably do a Park Run, then it could become part of my 'maintenance' routine :)

Anyone else glad it's Friday? I had a yelled argument with my boss re. responsibilities vs reward at the start of the week and it's had me feeling a bit blue. The air is cleared now, but I'm not letting the topic lie. Quite happy to do more work, but 50%+ more for the same money? Find some other mug :D

Lots of small overpayments to the Emergency Fund this week, think we're close to the psychologically impressive looking 60%.

Nice relaxing weekend planned, with a trip to the cinema and some QT with Mrs E.
  • Morning Mr E, I could do with someone dragging me out on a run. I really dislike the cold and as exercise isn't a love, I find every excuse not to go when it's brrrrrrr.

Hope all goes well at work and your EF is looking goif.

Enjoy Friday, nearly the weekend :j:j
