Had to speak to Amazon's Indian? call centre where the staff pretend to be American (shudder).
They tried to refund the cost of a faulty item onto a credit card that has been closed, despite me noting this before they generated the return authorisation (and on the package itself).
In the end, I managed to get them to credit my account for £11.99, but they claim it won't appear in my gift certificate balance? Seems a little shonky, so I'm keeping the receipt until I spend it
Currently up to £27 or so in Amazon vouchers - here's to a nearly neutral Christmas 2013 :beer:0 -

I always wonder how do people manage to buy so far in advance? How do you know what people want or need?:)
Well done anyway! :cool:0 -

I completely agree with you (and mentally wince when I see people who've done their entire Christmas shopping for the next year in the sales, with no regard for what people actually want!)
I just picked up a few good quality supplementary gifts for tricky to shop for people who I know will use them.
The bulk of our shopping is based on actual requests0 -
seems Tilly is started a loo roll obsession. Can I play? I have two cupboards bursting at the seems from the costco triple velvet offersknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Not much to report today - £1.86 to the EF from my spare money as a token payment.
Mostly grumbling about the fact that going back to work on Monday is now tangible
Attempting a rare NSD on a Saturday - breakfast is a tasty frittata with wild mushrooms (rehydrated, been in the store cupboard for a year), smoked pork (a gift from FIL) and other veg that was getting dusty in a cupboard. Wish me luck!0 -

Morning Mr E
That sounds tasty - enjoy!

Tbh, it turned out not bad. The mushrooms were doing that 'I'm a rehydrated mushroom and will be rubbery no matter how well you cook me' thing, but overall very tasty and will keep me full up to lunch.
*Edit: Just checked TCB and have withdrawn £3.23 for the EF0 -
Grocery shopping done - picked up a few good deals at Lidl - including their nice muesli at £0.84 a bag and a black pudding the size of my forearm for £1.49
My new mobile phone has turned up, so I'll get that charged and call Tesco to port over my old number.
Had to order some bits for my fish tank filter and will need a case for the phone. As these are unavoidable spends that prevent larger spends down the line, I am justifying frantically and am still counting this as a NSD.
Lots of little account tidy ups, leaving me somewhat skint, but the EF looking ever healthier. Mrs E has withdrawn some more funds from Zopa, so those will hopefully turn up soon.
To do:- [STRIKE]Clean fish tank and change water[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Hoover[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Take out rubbish and recycling[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Polish shoes[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Contact Tesco Mobile to port number[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Wrap up parcel for little brother's birthday (missed the date because his address was on my stolen phone!)[/STRIKE]
- *Relax*
Just the fish left to do - think a quick coffee is required :rotfl:0 -
Back to work tomorrow, but dreading it the least of any year that I can remember! This has been the best Christmas holiday that I can recall - the combination of a good length of holiday, family fun, being in our own home and next to no money worried has worked a treat
Not much MFW to report today:- eBay listings are doing well, £24.50 across two items with some time left to run.
- Nothing to withdraw from TCB, £co or Green Metropolis
- Accounts tidied - £1.01 to EF
- Ordered our first ever Tesco shop (hopefully £5 cashback for first order + £10 off £50 spend, stooze, clubcard points and green clubcard points)
- Opted in to the Tesco Christmas saver. Top ups look interesting - am I right in thinking that if I spend up to £350 by the last date for the scheme I get a return worth 6% in bonus vouchers? Ok, it has to be spent in Tesco, but 6% overnight? Not bad. Plus I could use the Tesco credit card and get more points + stooze :rotfl:
Relative coming round this afternoon for a flying visit - can't believe we're still expecting more Christmas presents! I've done a bit of tidying, but nothing too extreme. Our tree will be coming down next weekend, doing it now would have crushed my mood.
Have a lovely day everyone, relax and enjoy yourselves before next week :T0
