Not as well as I'd hoped, but still £35 after fees, Paypal's cut and delivery costs. £17.51 into the EF, £17.52 for me (as I'm not hardcore enough to clear out my worldly possessions with no reward :A)

Still, going in the right direction.

I'm very glad that we've decided to prioritise the Emergency Fund for the start of 2013 - it feels achievable and (like all men), I prefer to focus on one goal at a time.

I keep debating whether or not to be putting more into our EF at the moment, rather than throwing everything we've got at the mortgage, just in case - any ideas? I think I know what I should be doing... :o

The way I think about it is - what would happen if I lost my job tomorrow? I earn more than Mrs E, so a decent Emergency Fund seems essential.

We're aiming for 3 months of essential expenses. I'd probably want 6 if we had a child.

Sometimes the slow, boring, parts of personal finance are the most important. Once we have the EF in place it's one less thing to save for and all remaining money can be OPed or invested.

Some banks will let you withdraw OPed money, my bank doesn't, so OPing will need to wait just a little bit.

Today, I am mostly at the mercy of couriers. Waiting for one to pick up my eBay parcel and have been given the awesome window of 08:30-17:00!

In an attempt to appease the courier gods (who I'm assuming are the same, or very similar to the OP gods), I have had an account tidy up and paid £5.52 into the EF (Halifax reward has turned up). I've also recalculated the fund and am now 0.11% *lower* than yesterday. This, I suspect is what comes of hangover maths. I should just be glad that I wasn't operating a chip pan :rotfl:

Driving lesson at 12:30, which adds an element of danger to the whole thing! Want a bet that the courier turns up the moment I drive away?

If the runes are aligned correctly, I'd like to pop into town. I have an item of clothing to return for a gift voucher and we need some essentials for the weekend (fun stuff like shoe polish and loo rolls). I did look online, but no bulk bargains that met my super tight Scottish standards.

Hope everyone else has more fun than I do today!

Try and make the most of being stuck in the house Ed..... hopefully the Courier Gods will look down upon you with a kindness and not keep you waiting for too long........

Congrats on the super process with the EF. Do you also save in to an ISA or pop it all in to the EF?

I'm constantly having a debate in my head about whether to save/ISA/OP etc etc.... I change my mind like my handbags.

It goes into an ISA, but only because my ISA (3% tax free) is the best home for cash at present. Sometimes it pays to be a savings robot!

No luck on the courier front yet - I suspect that I have missed them. If they arrive today, I will make a sacrificial offering of £5 to the EF - promise :D

Driving lesson went well - my tight left reversing is greatly improved. Had to book another block of lessons, so there goes £630.

Well, I've tried my hand at 2/5 manoeuvres and have 16 hours remaining of paid for lessons.

Maybe by the end of Feb?
