And what is the position if a car is in an allocated space and the resident has no option but to park elsewhere until said car moves?

This is actually my chief worry. I'm going to wait and see what letter arrives on my doormatt and see what "scheme" is implemented.

I'll post a link to this thread again on the residents facebook page, can't beat a bit of awareness!

In terms of visitor parking there is no visitor parking on the development; this is a restriction that was applied during the planning process.

I find it difficult to believe that the planning department agreed to or instigated this. It does not make logical sense, worth checking out.

I think that this planning condition is not as rare as you think. Especially in town centre developments. Completely ridiculous of course.

  • This just came in from the Development's Managment company (the people I pay ground rent to).

Left hand, right hand two not connected. lol. I will update you all when I get my letter and the scheme starts.

    Good afternoon xxxxxx,

This afternoon I have updated the website with the following information:
    ...
We have spoken to the Parking Management company regarding the parking signs and they were under the impression that Linden Homes had already written to all of the residents regarding the plans.

They have informed me that they haven't had a start date yet so are not ticketing. When they do start they will initially be doing just the roadways, not the bays due to needing further information from Linden Homes. They will also be writing to the residents before they start to properly introduce themselves.

The parking company is 14 Services and should you have any queries regarding the scheme they can be contacted on 01452 223 284.

We will look in to the visitor bay aspect as visitor bays are obviously required for a site as large as Great Mead.

If you have any queries, don't hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards
    xxxxxxx

    'Visitor bays are obviously required'.

I suggest you don't adopt a 'wait and see' approach now you have the bit between your teeth! Carry on being proactive now.

Alexis, a poster on here, managed to stop a PPC from being foisted into his car park where he has a flat. Maybe he can give you some pointers as to how he achieved this (a scheme was planned but never implemented).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I find myself agreeing with 27col again! :)

The continuing government planning policy (which is about cutting down private car usage) with regard to the provision of car parking spaces on new developments is that the minimum space provision is 1 space per dwelling (i.e. flat or house). Some local councils raise this to approx. 1.4 spaces but there is no requirement that there be any provision for visitors AIUI.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

There is a residents meeting soon. Can't see it doing much as the developer has completely ignored our input on the matter so far.

I posted this thread on our facebook page so maybe some of them have read this thread(and the others!) and are spreading the ignore message!

Edit: It looks like there is no refuting the decision..... This comes from the construction manager on our development.

    Dear xxxxxx

Thank you for your email. The illegal parking notices are currently being erected across the development and you will shortly receive a letter from the contractor who will be policing this activity for the foreseeable future.

I trust this clarifies the situation, please let me know if you require any further information.

    Regards

    xxxxxxx

Might be worth going down to the local council to see if such a restriction was placed during the planning process as I see a blanket ban on visitor parking being a lie.

Unless it's the middle of a town/city centre with excellent public transport links

Someone else agreeing with me. I can't stand all the stress of being right occasionally.

14 Services, much like many other smaller PPC's, has form for erecting signs overnight and issuing tickets immediately behind them. I'd just gamble a small amount that the person concerned will be George Cox himself. He is quite a distinctive individual:

This is from 14 Services own website - George is on the left with the hi-viz on.

This is George in a slightly different guise and without his usual glasses on. This picture came from a now defunct website courtesy of The Internet Archive.
