"14 Services" On Private Land

Hi guys,

These guys put signs up in our residential area overnight!

It is a new housing development, so therefore all private land owned by the developer.

I haven't seen many threads on here for how legitimate these companies are on private land?!

Any advice would be appreciated!

:-)

Never heard of 14 Services but if the signs say they will issue 'parking charge notices' then the same advice applies as on the 5,000 or so threads on this forum, updated every day.

Have you read some other threads, seen the Watchdog clip and the preview of template letters these scam companies use? It's all there in the top sticky followed by thousands of threads like yours. See my signature if unsure how to view the current threads & stickies which are just one click away.

If the signs say clamping and mention a clamp release fee or towing away then that's a more worrying matter and you will need to be very careful where you park. Clamping is not yet illegal.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • thanks for your response,

Yeah read a lot of threads on here, seen your advice etc!

Just wondered if it was the same on Private Land as it is in a public car park.

Good to know that it probably is!

    Here's there website.

Yes, all threads on here ARE about private land (except for the odd Council PCN). I don't understand why you think your case is different than the thousands of other cases on every other thread about any PPC?

'Private Land' is not some special/unusual thing (although their website pretends it is). It's any land that's not Council public highway, including Supermarket car parks, anything. There's not some special legal definition! All PPCs operate on private land so all threads here are like yours.

Just had a quick look at that laughable and garish website rambling on about 'the law'!! Utter, utter drivel!!

Q: I saw a thread on a local consumer forum that said if you receive a parking ticket on private land do not pay it as the parking company will not follow it up if I dont. Is this really the case?
A: No it is not. Do not be fooled by advice that is given by people that are not necessarily qualified to voice an opinion on such matters. As a company we can assure you that we will take any & all required legal action to ensure the full payment of a Parking Charge Notice that has been issued by ourselves.

They don't like forums do they?! Strange how we have never heard of this scammer ever taking anyone to Court!

In other words they will send you a few letters then give up- like every other parking company does. Who do these pr*cks think they are fooling?

My qualification is that I have personally told over 80 of these companies to eff off and not one has taken it further. Is that good enough?
  • Have you ascertained that the developers have actually contracted them and why? Make sure that they are not there when the development is completed if they put in a managing company.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Yeah, the developers have contracted them to implement this Parking scheme. The majority of the devlopment is completed (including the flat I live in).

Just wanted clarification on if it was different for some reason to the millions of other threads on here. But, it's not, so happy days, it goes in the ignore pile! lol.

Hold on - what does the sign say? Don't just park there willy nilly - it's still land that belongs to someone else.

    It's this very beast.

  • Have you been issued with a particular space or area? Do you know why it has been necessary to get the ppc's in? Have you been issued with a permit? Don't just ignore multiples of tickets as this just makes it worth while having a punt at court.
