I have my own allocated space, but my partner also has a car so parks in the "guest parking" section. It looks like this scheme has been introduced to stop people parking on the pavements and things. I will get more information soon as the signs were put up last night with no notice to the residents!
TBH, this whole scheme has made me want to find & move to a property with a driveway, so I don't think this is going to effect me for too long! lol.0 -

If you are an owner, then you may even already be a member of the management company, or will be when the developers have created it to administer the service charge.
It is unlikely that as a resident flat owner on a new estate (or a tenant of one) you will have no right to use a parking space. Ask your landlord if you are a tenant or the developer if you are the owner if permits have been issued to distinguish residents' vehicles from rogue parkers.
Apparently atm there will be no permits, the scheme is a blanket policy of "if it's not in an allocated space it gets a ticket", I do have 1 allocated space, but 2 cars!!! I have a couple of solutions that i am going to try and explore before turning into a one car household.0 -

From their website:-
"We are LEGALLY authorised under law to issue Parking Charge Notices on areas of land that are PRIVATELY owned, ie: Land that does not come under the jurisdiction of the Highways Act. In other words land areas that have not yet been/never will be, adopted by the local Council.
A Parking Charge Notice issued by a Private Parking Enforcement Agency such as ourself is a legally enforceable charge that is issued for unauthorised parking on private land areas"
And just what is their legal basis?:D"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

They must have made a spelling mistake or two, they proberbly ment "We are ILLEGALLY authorised under our own unenforceable law...ect ect ect! YAWN! IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE and we will give up and leave you alonePPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

There is no law that says they can't issue Parking Charge Notices, just as there is no law that says the recipient has to pay them. As for being legally enforceable, well yes but only that they are legally entitled to chase the charge through the civil courts. Typical smoke and mirrors from the ppc.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Sounds like a housing estate designed by people whom don't realise that people might have more than 1 car in this day and age

Check the plans for the estate and see what they were supposed to allow. Not unknown for developer to change things to suit themselves.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
