    Thanks everyone!

Mum is coming home this afternoon, there is no definitive diagnosis. She is to take it easy and go and see her GP. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with this, but mum is thrilled to be coming home and has promised to be sensible - fat chance. She'll have her walking shoes on and be hill climbing unless I tie her to a chair! She is amazing, it sounds silly I knew she was 78 but didn't realise it. I think of her as forever young and to see her as getting old is a strange feeling. I'm going to go over everyday and sort out dinner and washing, it won't be allowed for long so I'll make the most of it!

    Other news:

Finally the e*bay parcel has left by courier. I'll move the money once I'm sure it's arrived and the buyer is happy. £78.00 will hit my Captain fund.

I've received £20.00 for a mystery shop and £6.41 for a book sale on Am*zon - to the Captain fund.

Also had a call from the insurance people about my mortgage claim. They won't pay it to the building society directly. It's not in the policy apparently. This is going to mess up my JSA. They are writing the DWP a letter to say it is not income but is my mortgage payment. Somehow, I don't think the DWP are going to let me continue claiming. What I'll have to do is get the payment moved to my new bank account so that S*ntand*r won't be able to take it when I default on my bills.

    Hi Piquant

I'm so sorry your Mom hasnt been well and really pleased that she seems to be getting better, I know how when you get older you dont want to admit your age and still think you are 21 years!!! Im there at the moment!! I will keep my fingers crossed that all goes OK for your mom and family and will keep popping in from time to time

Hi Piq - really pleased with the good news and hope your Mum does take it easy. Be firm with her.

Blergh to JSA and Mortgage people. Why is it so complex? You cannot be the only person in this situation. One small thought have you asked to change to interest only on the mortgage so you can just tick along for the time being? Might mean some funds from the payment for you? Think the separate account is a good idea for the mortgage money so you can keep it separate, get cracking in that plan!

    Hi Piq
Delighted to hear your mum is well enough to go home ... hope she continues to improve quickly.
Might the CAB be able to advise on your JSA? I live mid-way between two towns: the CAB in the bigger one is a nightmare, always (understandably) horribly busy, but if I go to the one in the smaller town, it's much, much quieter and altogether easier. And they have been hugely helpful to me. Might be worth considering? Good luck with everything, rooting for you and the Captain!

Mum is fine. I have cleaned everything and cooked nonstop just so she doesn't have to do anything for a couple of days. Her house is now far cleaner than mine :D She knows she must take it easy and is being fairly good.

She is a hoarder of food, she has three chest freezers full to the brim, she starts to fret if they are not full. Can't quite get my head around it. She thinks it is because they were rationed in the war and it has left her with a fear of not having enough to eat for the family. I'm trying to persuade her to 'eat' the contents down, not sure I'm getting anywhere though!

Since last checking in, I've signed up for a freelance writers database in the hope of getting some work from there. I've been sent another couple of links for sites that pay for articles one of which looks quite promising.

I've relisted my e*bay item that the buyer didn't pay for and I won't have to pay listing fees as I'd originally listed it on a free weekend. No watchers or bids so far. I'll relist everything else that hasn't sold shortly. Must remember to adjust the postage as the prices go up next week.

Thank you all again for the kind wishes for my mum. I think I've taken her for granted a bit. When did she grow old?

    Hi Piq,

hugs to you and your folks - quite a worrying and exhausting few days. Take care of yourself too while you are busy looking after your parents. Its a bit of a role reversal I often think, they look after us [to varying degrees I know] - then to see parents getting older, maybe frailer and less able is a shock. Teapot x

    Piq,

Just caught up - glad your mum is home.

It's always a worry when they let them go home but haven't actually diagnosed anything

Thanks for pooping on to my diary even when you have a lot going on and are now helping your parents as well :T
