    Morning!

Hello Caroline :hello:and thank you for your lovely comments. As you know the Captain's true love is a Shetland, not that she loves him. He will happily jump anything to be with her and have his knees bitten. I didn't know what an Italian Spinone was :o and had to look it up. Gorgeous!!

Ah now... maybe you've been looking at the show dogs. Mine, although coming from a very distinguished pedigree which promised all sorts in prizes and accolades from Crufts. Unfortunately what I actually got was a Mud Magnet. Some idiot persuaded me to get a cream pup for a start. Spinones have webbed feet. They love water. And digging. Water + digging = mud, gallons of it. For heavens sake I had a gravel based garden - there was no mud, just nice pots and plants, ornamental grasses of a variety of hues and size. What do I have now? The Somme. And it's advancing into my kitchen.

However, he is the nicest person for a dog. My friend likens him in the nicest possible way to a Village Idiot. Always happy, no sense at all, very little brain. So would I have another? Absolutely!!

Oh I remember a Shetland from many moons ago that used to sit in the front passenger seat of a convertible morris minor.
When a traffic warden came to give the car a ticket one summers day when the roof was down and the owner had rushed to a shop, he asked the two little girls in the back "what's that?" pointing.
In the best "really are you a grown up don't you know anything" voice the youngest said (cue sigh) "It's a pony, he eats grass and we are taking him to the vet for his jabs. He has his seatbelt on so it's OK".
No ticket was applied to the car and the warden was seen walking away shaking his head looking quite bemused.
Very cheap way of getting pony to vet's though!

When we wanted to move our Shetland it was a person at each corner and lift into the Landrover back. The idea was that he stayed in the back with the nice padded bales of hay and several people holding the lead rein. What actually happened was that he didn't like the view, and climbed (yes I know... ) over the bench seat so that he had 2 legs on the front seat and 2 legs in the back. His nose was on the windscreen. No, I hear you say, not very safe. However, I defy anyone else to stop this damn thing doing whatever he wanted to.. he was on loan... he eventually went back, and the sales of plasters plummeted.

My day hasn't gone at all according to plan. My mum is in hospital with a suspected heart attack. I've been at the hospital and running my dad around. We're awaiting the results of various tests to find out exactly what's going on. Until then it's fingers crossed time. Mum seems alright in herself, but she says she still has a bit of pain under the morphine they've given her. I'm happier she's there, just in case. Dad looking after her is not the ideal scenario.

I'm waiting for my dinner to cook, I cheated and bought a ready meal, I'm afraid :o. For having done very little today I'm very tired. I'll be back later this evening, although I suspect I won't be updating my blog and I'd wanted to do that at least six times a week...

Don't feel bad about the blog or the ready meal. You and your parents are more important. Hope your Mum is ok but you're right she is in the best place xx

Hugs Piq, do hope your mum gets better quickly. I was going to post anyway tonight just to say that any sort of life-changing decision - or actually, any decision (!!) makes me feel pretty exhausted once I have finally made it, so you may be feeling a bit knackered at the moment. But you now have even more on your plate ... just hope it helps you to know that there is obviously quite a gang of us mad animal lovers out here all wishing you well on your journey. Best wishes, the cake xx
