Captain and the Shetland - there must be a book in that!
Noo
Funnily enough it is part of what I am trying to do. I try to write a minimum of 500 words a day. It is, not necessarily about just the Captain, but what happens when you take on a horse such as the Captain when you have completely lost your confidence and find yourself frozen in fear. Some years ago I had a fairly horrific accident on, or maybe that should read off, a horse. I'm telling the story of how I managed to ride again, with the Captain's help.
I've also got another book planned out. I'd like to write for a living, rather than go back to what I was doing and being made redundant from. Mind you, I have no idea how to go about publishing and the like, I need to research that.
PS, please don't judge my writing ability from what I post here, on here I post from the heart and write as I think, fairly untidily!

And because of that your book will be a success. I love reading stuff like that - I think its a great idea - I have a blog just for my own reference where I have logged my return to competitive riding last year even though it was low level. I do dressage at Novice on Mare 1 but the old boy came out of retirement to help me get my confidence back and my family love reading it - its warts and all lol! From what I have read so far - you will be very good at it0 -
LAM hope your horses wound isnt too bad when you look at it and is healing nicely. I had that at an old yard where the geldings and mares were separated but ended up overgrazed and always fights.
Friend and I moved 4 of them, her 3 and Baldrick to just a field with grazing and shelter and they really settled down, such a lovely herd, last few months had to move Baldrick but it was just him and another in the field but friends next door and seemed much better. Think with big herds there is always pecking order and seems like yours are at the bottom. Is there anyway you could get a bit sectioned off? Or lots of hay put out in the field so they dont fight so much as seem bored??
Piquant love it about the Captain and the shetland, Baldrick also used to have a shetland mate but his was male, they were best buddies, he hated the mare in the field, Baldrick was gay through and through
Please do write those books, I keep trying but failing!Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Piq, that sounds like a lovely career - I am an avid reader not a writer, unfortunately!
My sister and I share a yard, no school, but it is lovely, we can do what we want with the grazing etc. We keep mares and geldings together and it seems ok at the moment although my sister's new horse is quite nervous so trys to shoot out of the gate at the first opportunity which can cause problems.
I'm good a proof reading if you ever need someone to give your draft a once over!
Cheerio!

It's time to update the diary, I'm quite late today, possibly because I haven't got that much to say. But a discipline is a discipline and must be adhered to!
First the bad news; I was turned down for the job I had an interview for last week, apparently I haven't enough experience. As far as I could see I had more years of experience in the work field than the interviewer had years. He looked twelve, perhaps he was on work experience? Really fed up about it, I have to get some income coming in soon or I'm in big trouble.
Other news, or irrelevant pieces of information.
It being a late autumn, I thought it was time I went out and swept up the leaves, now the snow has gone I can't pretend they're not thereAs I have woods at the bottom of the garden, there were quite a few. Some I have bagged up to make leaf mold and most I have given back to the woods. The amount of leaves left me worried that the woods wouldn't have any.
I emptied lots of pots of unidentified dead plants and found the compost bin lurking in the corner, I'd forgotten it was thereIt's got lots of lovely compost in it, so I've cleared a route to it and can now easily add veggie peelings to it. And maybe, just maybe I'll grow some vegetables in the summer.
Also cleaned out two kitchen cupboards and one drawer, will do another couple later. Seasons change rapidly here, it's gone from Autumn to Spring in a couple of hours!
Took the Captain out for a hack, he has been very stiff with arthritis so I thought we'd go for a walk to ease his aches and pains. I was still thinking that when he took off in gallop across a field  I think he feels better...

It's raining heavily and is dull and grey, what better day to do the housework. I have no intention of going into the mind numbing details, suffice to say I feel smug!
I have managed to put a meal together without hitting the shops for man pet and I tonight. I've made carrot and coriander soup, made with the Captain's carrots, what they don't know won't hurt them....Butternut squash and chickpea curry and homemade naan bread. I made the naan bread yesterday as an experiment, I've never done it before, they were lovely!!! And so easy. As they accidentally got eaten I'm making a fresh batch later.
Man pet wanted to bring something, so I've given him a list of salad stuff, think he's sorry he asked now:rotfl:He's not really a vegetable loving person, oh and he's bringing the wine. Definitely a money saving meal :T
