I am subscribed! Redundancy is awful, it's happened to me 3 times in 25 years working! Here's hoping the job of your dreams is just around the corner.
Thank you Goochie, I look forward to seeing you here often.
I still feel ashamed, there are actually people I haven't told and I don't know why. I wouldn't judge anyone in this situation, I certainly wouldn't think that they were bad at their job. It's companies are (sorry Americanism coming) down-sizing and having to cut back costs. Even if it is to pay themselves a large bonus at the cost of someone's job
I'm having a day of doubting myself today, I don't like it. Normally I'm very upbeat.
I've been to see the Captain who is in the doghouse at the yard again. He broke out of his stable last night and ate any breakfasts that had apples or carrots in. Sensibly he left the boring stuff so no horse would go hungry, just not get the nice bits! :T

Hi Piq
You probably won't remember me but I used to post on the ' what small things' thread every day in 2008/09 under the user name 'MrsAudus2b' I remember you and your stories of the Captain very fondly, and also all of us setting up diaries with Fay etc.
I rarely come onto DFW board now but for some strange reason did yesterday and saw your name; I had to drop you a :hello:I'm sorry to hear about the job news but :T:T:T:T:T on the debt news!!! That's an amazing total to have cleared!
Wishing you all the best

I do remember you too and just as fondly. How lovely to hear from you again. How are you? What are you doing with yourself? Hows married life?
Fay is still here, see if you can spot her, she also has changed identity, but not very well, I knew her instantly!
Love and hugs to you!!

Now then you lovely lady, you mustn't go feeling bad about valentine's day! <stern look> You didn't 'just' make some shortbread hearts, you put affection and time and cheeriness into making a beautiful (and tasty, no doubt) handmade, thoughtful gift
I'm sure cheery bloke was doing what he maybe thought was expected of him, and thought he was doing the right thing
Maybe you need to talk through the year about what kinds of things you find romantic (or like doing, if you don't want to use that word
), or maybe you organise next year and go on a cheery day out instead or something
You never know, he might enjoy a picnic or something too

Of course you're right Cheery, and very wise you are too. It hasn't been that long since I purchased him on the internet so we haven't got to know each other all that well yet. Over the next year we can work things out a bit better, not sure about your idea of a picnic in February though:)
It wasn't just that I'd only made biscuits, it was how uncomfortable I was about having so much money spent on me. I know, I know, call the men in white coats now! I must have spent too long looking for ways to save money and splurging seems so wrong now.
I seem to have been brain-washed:eek:

Piquant, wouldnt worry to much about V day, sure OH didnt notice you didnt enjoy it as much as you should. Think its all a bit overrated anyhow.
I didn’t do anything romantic at all just got a card each in the morning, I had written my card, OH said his was in the car, both went out to respective cars and OH was ages fiddling around, he was writing the card!! In the evening yelled at each other cos virgin box was playing up but managed to fix it, I cleaned out hamster, OH did washing up then I laid in bed watching tv and OH was on his pc next door playing games. We really know how to live
Hope Captain is ok today and didnt manage to let himself out again!!Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Thank you lamarsi, that puts it in perspective, you're right it is the forced romance of the situation, plus the silly money you're expected to spend. If we're together next year, it'll be different.
That's an amazing job you do there, you should be very proud of yourself.
Thanks again

Another day, another dollar as the saying goes. Or in my case 6.86 sale on Amazon. Although, of course, it's not. Amazon do not allow you enough even to cover second class postage, how do they get away with that? I'm selling some DVDs that were given to me to sell, so any money made is a bonus.
I'm just about to package it up and walk to the village shop/post office to send it on it's way.
I'm going to make a sweet potato curry tonight and I think I'll make some naan breads to go with it. I have all the ingredients in so I don't have to hit the shops and I'll have plenty left over to go in the freezer. How very money saving!
Oh drat, will have to pay for postage, so not a NSD after all....
