Agree...my neighbour used to do housework on them...whilst wandering around the house. Dusting and the like. The power of the mute button;)

I suspect my colleagues would say I am the windbag..or the bossy one anyway:p

As long as you're not the one on the awayday that asks the impossible question just before the bar opens/leaving time/lunch....They never seem to be aware that people are fantasizing about drowning them..:rotfl:

    Hi Piq

Just delurking to say fantastic stories about Captain, quite a few times I've nearly laughed out loud in the middle of a quiet office.

Wanted to say not to get down-hearted about the council job as they are no longer able to advertise externally with so many redundancies/redeployments etc happening. Wish they could though as it would solve our one full time staff member down issue lol.

Good luck in your search and look forward to reading more tales.

Hello Alioops [brilliant name by the way]

Thanks for the council information, I didn't know that, it makes me feel better about being turned down. I suppose they have to advertise and then give it to an internal applicant who costs a little less.

I'd happily do anything [as long as it didn't smell too bad] but a lot of places don't seem to understand transferable skills. Never mind, it's a fresh week on the horizon, something may turn up!

It's lovely to meet you, stop lurking and join in! Plenty of Captain stories yet to come. The horse is an entertainer in his own right!

I remember writing my grocery list whilst on a teleconference call, there's always a windbag on them too, seems you can't have a call without one of them taking all the air out of the atmosphere for an hour or so!

I could probably have written my life story during some of the telecons I have been on - I think my line of work attracts a superior collection of windbags! TGIF!

Not only chilling, but next to me evaporating as we speak!

I have a very short attention span too and even worse, I get bored easily :o I hate wafflers and the ones that love the sound of their own voice, how do they get to the top? beats me...

    Hi Piq

Have followed you over from someone else's thread but can't remember who as I spent all yesterday and this morning reading yours :D

A few pages back you mentioned that you wanted to post on the Employment board - was this to do with jobs or benefits?

Just thought I would let you know that my job is Money Adviser so I deal with finance and benefits so if you need any help in that area give me a shout.

Can I just check if you have applied for Council Tax Benefit with your Local Authority?

I feel I may fit in on here, although I don't have a horse, at the moment I have 4 cats, 15 geese, 5 ducks, 16 turkeys, approx 40 chickens and 3 sheep.

Life is such a bundle of laughs and dirt as well :rotfl:

Hello Eager Elephant, may I call you EE, I don't want to call you Elephant, in case it causes offence!

Your offer is really kind, thank you, I may take you up on it, I think I'm still in denial a bit, luckily for me, hardly spending has become a habit, but I won't survive much longer.

I wanted to post on the Employment board, I suppose for support and a feeling of solidarity, which I've actually found here, on my own diary. What I found over there wasn't for me, I do lurk daily as odd snippets of information can be very useful. There is one guy who just won't give up trying to find a job and asks loads of questions, to be shot down in flames time and time again, credit to him, he still carries on. I sent him a pm of support and well doneness, but I didn't do it publicly :o

I haven't done anything for council tax, I didn't know I could! It will go onto my to-do list for Monday for research. I have sent off my claim for mortgage cover though. If you've read my diary you'll know how difficult I find the whole thing, I was brought up to pay my own way completely, maybe I should write brainwashed! I was also brought up never to borrow money, but we'll quickly skim over that...

You have a tiny farm!!! how wonderful! You will fit in so well here. You must have to get up early to feed that little lot.

Life is for living and if you get the opportunity to enjoy it and laugh with friends, you're living a good life...

I've often wondered if the HR departments have a quota they have to fill with different skillsets. Annually they have to take on 15% windbags, 10% know-it-alls, 3% with negative IQs to be placed on the board, a blocker in every department, one smelly person and one person who wears a denim suit. The rest are gob-smacked ordinary folk.
