Great news about the windfall! :T That is fab news!
Thanks for the timely reminder about making small changes. I was beginning to despair about ever paying off my overdraft. I'm going to look into some of these again and see where I can save some more.
I'm going to put the money I save/Ebay/earn into a spare (rather empty) savings account and build it up that way rather than try to knock it off the balance of my overdraft.
When I've saved a chunk I'll use it to reduce my overdraft limit.
If you're developing a fondness for sheds perhaps you should have a look at 50 sheds of grey. It's a Twitter/Facebook thing, and there's been a book. Very amusing and full of puns. Safe to read in public! Although you might laugh out loud at some of them."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Fantastic new Piq and couldn't happen to a nicer person and I would follow Granny's advice too.

Hi Piq et al
Haven't been around for a while - just so busy! Piq what fantastic news about the PPI. Life seems to be improving! I love the pots by the way.
Best wishes to all.

I didn't know I could do that. I haven't defaulted on the card payments even though it is a very high interest rate.
I am not sure your credit card will accept a full and final - they have nothing to gain.
You are paying the minimum every month and they get lots of interest from you - what's not to like :rotfl:
If they don't accept the f+f you still have to keep paying them so your credit rating is not damaged and they know that.
Also be aware that f+f's damage credit ratings so if you need to re-mortgage in the future (deal coming to an end etc) then you will struggle.
They are only going to take f+f's from people who are barely paying anything each month and they just want rid of you :rotfl:0 -

I honestly think folk including myself aim too high, fall off the wagon and get too demotivated and angry to start again. That's why I look at it small chunks of what can be done, eventually most things become a habit.
I've been doing the account tidy up that Mrs B does, it's a painless way of knocking small amounts off your target. I'm rounding down to the nearest five or zero. It does add up.

Now you mention it I recall reading that somewhere here on the site. I don't suppose there's any harm in asking though. I'm still chipping away at the cc with daily small amounts, sometimes under a pound [I'd like to think that annoys the !!!!!!s :rotfl:]Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

More exciting news :T I've won a kindle :j:j:j and a leather cover for it :T:T
Now the plan was that anything I won in a competition was going to be sold on eb@y *but* I've wanted a kindle for ages [note the want not need] I was going to treat myself when I was debt free, a kindle and a kitchen aid mixer
So I'm keeping it for me! I'm not justifying it, it's going to be mine! There are so many free books available too. I spent a happy hour or two choosing books and charging the kindle up.
Yesterday was a long boring day at the coffee shop, very quiet on the customer front all the standing about made me very stiff and tired, not to mention fatter [it was so slow there were chocolate croissants for the eating, guess who ate them?]
Today is gardening day, hope the forecast rain holds off...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
