  • Piq my lovely, on the freebies board there are free seeds......for bee friendly plants, if you could send for some and get friends to send off on your bee half... - perhaps some bee themed pots with save the bee plants in- would be a lovely eco pot for small gardens or do window boxes etc, just as bees have been in the news it might be a nice theme for any country fetes or anything - oh listen to me going on about rot!

Love the idea of bee-friendly pot sets! :D

Piq have you thought of making templates for the lettering? Print off the herb names in a pleasing font, transfer to thin waxed card [from an art supplies shop], cut out lettering with a craft knife. Each one should do a dozen pots before needing replacement. ;)

A marbled background on the pots might also be a USP...

There's been a power cut since 5:00 this afternoon. The wind must have damaged something, so no cooker, kettle, hot water, Internet or light! Fed up and can't sleep so using my phone to access the site.

Dinner was cheese chocolate and wine!

I'll reply to brilliant ideas tomorrow after a full day at the coffee shop and tell you the truth about walking cats on leads.....

All provided I have electricity. Not looking forward to a cold bath (electric shower)

  • Eclectic electric. I am lucky in the regard we have a coal fire for basic stuff, but the lack of washing machine and music would make me insane!

Oh no! Losing the lekky is super-annoying when you've got an all-electric house (Nest is the same but I lose water as well when power goes off - the one disadvantage of having a private well + pump).

Did you 'phone up to report the lack of electricity and ask for an estimate of when it will return?

..I learned that one the hard way. Power went off; I assumed it affected the whole village. Three days later still no power; turned out to be just our place and next-door [unoccupied holiday cottage] were off. So nobody else had reported the fault.. :(
On Day Two we emptied the freezer, cooked the lot - luckily that house had a Rayburn and bottled gas cooker - then took the impromptu feast to a park where a lot of homeless/drug-users hang out.. All the food was soon gone, but I was a little perplexed when a couple of folk wanted to know where we lived? ..Was a bit reticent about that, until a very ill-looking bloke [junkie?] said it was so that all our new friends could avoid burgling our home!*
(*A very unexpected result of making the best from an annoying situation. I just didn't want to waste the food ).

    Yummy! :D

..Hope the power is back on by the time you get home from work this evening, Piq (keeping fingers crossed for you ;)). :)
