Thought of you today when I was flicking through my parents newspaper and saw some Emma Bridgewater spotty, small plant pots for sale for £7.50 - unplanted!

Have you given thought to pricing?

Also as well as eSlay, have you considered etsy and folksy?

They'd be at home here: http://www.etsy.com/search?q=plant%20pot%20hand%20painted&view_type=gallery&ship_to=GB&ref=auto4

I have given thought to pricing but the amount of time I spend on the pots would actually make them too expensive to sell. I've speeded things up a bit by working a system to get two prepared at a time but the individual painting takes time [especially when doing geckos or art deco flowers:o]

I feel embarrassed to ask for too much, actually I feel embarrassed to ask for anything at all as I don't know that they're that great really.

Also packing to post is going to be another expenditure. Where do I find the right sized boxes, packing etc to ensure that they arrive at their final destination in one piece? I need an ops manager....:rotfl:

    Well Done Piq

It might've been boring to you but it still keeps us lot interested.

I keep looking at my garden and want to get stuck in to it but the only problem is that I have no clue about english plants and what they need to survive and when I did garden in Oz my Dad was always there to give me a helping hand if only you were closer. I even managed to kill the potted chrysanthemum husbandpet bought me for Valentines Day oops.

Good luck with all your ventures.

Happy to help on plant advice, I'd even go round the garden centre with you to get you the right plants.

Not boring at all, well done on all the good news. Hope you can get enough carrots for the Captain into your car ..... have a lovely time with him.
What about starting to build up some customers for cooking, for the winter? You are obviously good (and creative) at it as well as gardening, and they could jigsaw together quite nicely, with some customers wanting both services, perhaps? I would have thought something like a thick homemade soup (strange to think about this on the warmest day of the year so far!) in freezeable portions would be great for an older person. Perhaps you could go even further and grow the veg. in their own garden for them? Just some thoughts.

Good idea cake! I won't be growing any veggies with my gardens this year. It's going to take a year just to knock the latest one into shape

The new gardening job is huge! A very big garden that is very overgrown indeed. I made some headway but there's lot to go. I'm supposed to do two hours a week on it but it really needs longer. The couple kept popping out to offer tea and biscuits, tea and cake, tea and toast.....bless. They are so happy to see their garden coming back to life. The gentleman insisted on paying me extra. I tried to refuse but he wouldn't hear of it.

This afternoon I potted up some fifty or so white cosmos, ten fragrant begonias [never grown these before, but I was seduced by the fact that they are scented] Also potted up my yellow geraniums which are very exciting as yellow is a rare colour for a geranium.

I had to do some research on prices of plants for this morning's customers. I used it as an excuse to pop into my favourite garden centre even though I know it's too expensive. There in the greenhouse were black petunias!! I should have bought them there and then, because I know I'm going to go back and get them :D They were like the darkest velvet imaginable, just think what they'd look like combined with shocking pink or orange or blue or any other colour.....:D I could use them in photos therefore they'd be a business tool......;)

Tomorrow it's back to coffee shop duties then I'll load Colin in the car and it's off to see the Captain:j

Glad the gardening is progressing - the latest one sounds a bit of a task. Hope you and Colin have a safe trip and you enjoy your vist with the Captain and all those cuddles :-)

You may not get a chance to read this, Piq, but hope you have a most wonderful time with horsey cuddles. Great to hear of things going well on the gardening front.
My bro does gardens, as I mentioned. In the winter he does things like putting in kitchens, he did an electrician's course specially for this. I think the cooking sounds a good idea.
You could perhaps market the pots as gifts filled with wrapped home made sweets/biscuits. Wrapped in coloured cellophane, they would make original Chrimbo gifts, just a thought.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

A good idea for the pots mcculloch, I could make the sweets and sell them at craft fairs along with Christmas plants. Not so keen on the installing kitchens idea :rotfl:

One disadvantage of having potted up so many seedlings is the endless transporting of them to the garden, then bringing them in of a night. I'll have to get up earlier to get it done before going to various workplaces!

Everything is packed, except Colin who is currently out patrolling Colin's Kingdom. It must be exhausting having to rub yourself against things time and time again :rotfl:The top of the gate is particularly precarious :rotfl:

And some photos of some of the bulbs and pansies in the garden, just because they're pretty and make me smile...

Thank you so much for the offer and going round a garden centre with me however I'm just out of Manchester so might be a bit of a trip and the spare room is currently full of boxes from when we moved 6 months ago :o:rotfl:. I wish husbandpet was more interested by mention anything gardeny or housey and he disappears to do geeky things. I used to love visiting garden centre's even worked in a couple when I was younger.

Have a fantastic time with the Captian this weekend and look forward to reading up on any Captain tales and Colin Fiascos.
