Oh Piq that's such wonderful news..I know how much the Captain means to you and you can rest easy now. That's wonderful. And just shows you how gems of beauty can lurk inside the most off putting of characters ( like the yard owner!;))
Really thrilled. AND such a thoughtful present from DS3... Blimey you bought that boy up well:rotfl:

What a lovely yard owner! Bet you were dreading it. Proves that the toughest of exteriors often hide the softest centres.** Proud to be dealing with my debts **LBM - Jan 2009 _pale_ : £24,802.21 :eek:February 2010 :silenced: : £18,078.47 (not including OD)July 2010

Oh Piq I hope you have shares in tissues because the story about the yard owner has made me blub with relief for you and the Captain. As Lucky says I think your angel fixed her sat nav and has turned out to be a grumpy yard owner in disguise.
Bless DS for thinking about Colin, which in turn will make things warmer for you too.
Please don't think of a dmp as failing at the last hurdle. You have paid off £45k, that's more than some in your position would have paid off. Why not write to all those you owe money to, tell them about your current circumstances and ask them to consider writing off the balance. If just one accepts, that's one less debt to worry about. As for the others well they can't have what you haven't got honey. If you need help with these letters, just let me know and I'll help.

I didn't log in yesterday. Sunday wiped me out emotionally and yet I still had to work on Monday. Real life just gets in the way sometimes!
Now the thing about the yard owner is - everyone is frightened of him! He swears like a trooper, is grumpy and a bit of a dictator as far as his yard is concerned. Hence why I was in such a state about telling him I could no longer afford to pay for the Captain.
Naturally the Captain has never helped! He will happily look the owner in the eye and take a chunk out of his fence. The owner will yell something along the lines of 'get that piece of f'ing salami out of here' On the occasion the Captain escaped and went walkabout and left a huge steaming pooh on the owners doorstep 'You'll find him tethered to the f'ing roadside waiting for the gypsies'
..and there was the time the Captain kicked the Landrover......
Today I'm taking my mum shopping for new clothes for her holiday. Dad is driving us then being left in the creche [coffee shop] with a paper whilst we find something that makes her feel pretty. My youngest sister is very unkind sometimes and tells mum she is too old to bother, no-one will look at her - absolute rubbish! My mum is one of those very pretty white haired ladies you see sometimes, she still has bright blue eyes and we will find something that lights her up. My sister can go walk.....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

As suspected Colin is delighted with his gift! He couldn't spread himself any further, he was actually sleeping on his back with his legs spread wide - an amazing sight, of course I had his rear end facing me....
I think the intelligent bit is that it remembers the settings. It can go in the washing machine and tumble dryer [if I had one], the blanket that is, not Colin!
I sat and read a book last night with it on - heaven!
Ani, I also have an heated throw on the sofa which has been a godsend for keeping the heating off. I shaved £30 a month off the combined energy bill last month. I do have to argue possession with Colin. Sometimes I win...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I'll think about the DMP, maybe this evening, maybe not!
I'm going to speak to my mobile providers as I can cut back there. I'd forgotten I pay for it, if you understand what I mean. I'll go in early to work tomorrow and call in there beforehand.
I'll be back to report on the shopping expedition this evening as well as to apply for a couple of jobs I've found.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
