I think the DMP route sounds the best way to go... You dont want credit again.. so the priority is to keep the wolves from the door, roof over your head and of course Colin and the Captain.
Do you have a sainsburys near you ... My husband collects nectar points you dont just have to shop there... You can collect them for all sorts of things.. he does surveys using Nectar Canvass.. and watches ads on add points.. I do valued opinions and just got a ten pound gift card... We are now up to over 30 pounds in a very short space of time. It truly has been a life saver...
Also with the extreme tiredness I know you suffer with Thyroid problems which you are getting sorted out. But do you think you could be suffering with depression. I know when the black dog hits me.. and it can hit hard.. I feel so tired, like nothing is worth doing and the only place I want to be is bed, because everything is such an effort..
Look after yourself... Maybe have a heart to heart with your dad.. a problem shared and all that..xx
  • Fantastic post there from bast, and I second everything. I know that I have nagged you before, Piq, to ensure that the new thyroid prescription is at the right level for you, and if you haven't yet seen the doc and had another blood test I urge you to do so quickly, the wrong level of thyroxene plays havoc with your health.

I looked at the link that New Leaf sent you and it sounds perfect for you, isn't she clever? She is my twin dontcha know? I know that we were born on different continents and more than a decade apart - twas a miracle.

I think that we need a new plan of attack - first thing is to speak to a debt charity and sort out a dmp or whatever they feel is the most appropriate vehicle to formalise payments to the creditors. (This is just my opinion of course, I'm sure one of our friends will correct me if I am wrong) I feel that this will take the pressure off you and we can move on to phase 2. You have spent more than a year applying for jobs that you don't really want to do, so why not decide that you are going to spend the rest of this year applying for jobs you DO want to do? It'll keep the job centre mob happy, give you some real interview experience and if I'm right the JCM will reimburse your expenses. I just feel that in moving away from the corporate robots and applying for jobs working for REAL people your personality and resourcefulness can shine through, and even if you don't have all the skills and experience that your prospective employer is looking for you can convince them that you will learn, and work hard, and that you have other skills that will come in useful that they had not even thought about. I hope that this makes sense. I know exactly what I mean!

For so long we have encouraged you and cheered you up, and I certainly don't feel that I have been able to help in any way, and yet in doing this I feel that we really can be of real assistance.

I have loads of ideas here, but will leave it at that for the moment.

You said that I had got you thinking again - thinking is good - but just remember, thoughts and dreams are the building blocks of our desires, action is the cement that holds them together.

Here is a present. I have made it especially for you. It is your VERY OWN magic hat. It was made with care and love from invisible material and sewn with invisible thread so that you can wear it all the time. It will of course protect and empower you, it will also give you back your mojo and sharpen your thinking. You need not be nervous when speaking to the debt charities, and the myriad other things that need to be done to make this year the year that you change your life for the better. I have also taken all the love and encouragement from your Friends in the Box (taken from CD from Robin's lovely diary) and sewn, by hand, them into the hat so that you can have them with you all the time.

So, my dear friend, are you up for it?

    Hi Piq et al
Sorry I have been absent for so long, have just come out of a long fog - !!!!$y year 2012.
Sorry to hear that life is not great. I am with all the others, get rid of the stiff upper lift and accept some food parcels, for either yourself or horse - I would happily get some Senior mix for Captain or/and a food parcel for you. Just say the word.
    Hugs and kiss.

This is exactly how I feel when I'm not getting enough thyroxine or when I forget to take a tablet. Get to the doctors Piq - that's an order!

    Fortune x

Is it? Do you know I haven't had a thyroid since I was 19, a little while ago now ;) and I still don't know what all the symptoms of not having enough are :o

I will try to get to the doctors this week, I have a busy week coming up. Will explain in my update.

Sorry you've been feeling so down lately Piquant :o I've had an idea, it may be a stupid one but thought it was worth mentioning at least...

I found your diary a few months ago and read it from the first page to the end in a several hour stint, if it was a book I just wouldn't have been able to put it down! The whole diary shows you in a very flattering light - warts and all - it reflects the person you are and showcases your intelligence, drive and humour. You are very captivating and as I got towards the end I was hoping beyond hope that you would have found that job you so deserve by the end.

Now here's the crazy part (and it may be suicide in your cut throat industry) but how about throwing your cards in the air and sending this link to as many companies as you can think of. There are so many Piq-fans on here who would give you a job in a heartbeat and all it would take is one person in 'real world' to feel the same. There, I said it! :o

Edit to add: It mightn't even be suicide as if they ignore it and don't read/contact you then they'll never know who you are if you ever applied for a job with them in future.

Oh Riley......hello by the way! I don't think I'm that brave to be honest. Part the pleasure of this diary is the anonymity. Far too much dirty laundry on show and I'm like many here, soldiered on without people knowing my circumstances. It is a good idea, but I'm not comfortable doing it I'm afraid.:(

Unfortunately, you can't eat them. :rotfl:

Just go and dig these up from the garden? :D

I used to grow them when I was a child, I think their name is Limnanthes or something similar. They used to edge the path to the front door, very pretty.

Wow Piq, you have some truly lovely on-line friends :). I hope some of the suggestions work out for you x

Your children sound wonderful too, so I wondered if they realise how tight things are for you at the moment or whether you're putting a brave face on for their benefit? If so, why don't you have a chat to them? I know if it was MY mum who was struggling I would want to know so that I could try to help. Maybe not financially (I don't know their circumstances obviously) but by supporting you emotionally through all this.

I know I'm at the other end of the country and financially no better off than you are, but what I DO have in abundance is fields full of lovely, free grass. If the Captain needs a bit of free keep while you get on your feet we can always find room for a little 'un!

    Keep that chin up x

Hmm, the Captain's not that little, 15.3 if he stands on tip-toe or my toe.... Thanks for the offer though, but today I sorted him out, more in my update when I've gone through my diary....

No, I don't share with my children, only two notice anyway and one of those is in Australia. The other bought me a present today which shows he notices....

It has occurred to me about being a bit depressed, I thought I'd get some St John's Wort, that has helped in the past. I will mention it when I finally get a doctors appointment - promise!

The idea of all the work involved in a DMP is putting me off, it comes back to the too tired/can't be bothered stage I am in. Also, I have managed to pay back £45k on my own, it's so demoralizing to fall at the final post.

Thank you, noo! I'm glad to see you back, sorry about the horrible year though. Not accepting food parcels. I do have food and am capable of making very inexpensive yet nutritious meals. The Captain gets through a sack of feed every fortnight so I should be able to manage that, failing that he can have half and half mix with the yard mix, he will survive!

Arrrgggg Colin just pulled the cable out the laptop, he's obsessed by it

    Excellent post Dot!

Hope you can find a way forward, Piq; a live-in post on a horsey estate could have a lot of possibilities and solve quite a few problems for you this year.

As a matter of interest, do you have anyone else who could look after Captain for fortnightly periods? If so I can recommend one particular company you'll find in The Lady (several friends work for them).

Good Luck whatever you decide to do, Piq! :)

ETA: Oops forgot about Colin - sorry; guess you wouldn't be able to work away in two week bursts so forget my 2nd suggestion. Sorry again :o
