Morning all!! have been avoiding as I saw the dreaded chocolate word.... having been on a diet since New Year's Day I've not had any of the brown stuff at all, in any shape. And only a very small amount of wine... So far have lost 22lbs, well on my way I think.

Interviews - Piq, maybe time to do some practising? My current boss said that one of the things she liked about me in my interview was that I was so relaxed. I take the attitude that I'm always 'me' in interviews. If you don't like me you won't employ me, simples. (and if I don't like you I won't work for you either!) You have such a lovely way with words on here, I'm fairly sure that (to your friends and acquaintances) you are the same to speak to. Just be like that in an interview! What's the worst thing that can happen....? you don't get the job? Well it probably wasn't a suitable job for you anyway then!

I'm a great believer in karma. There's a job out there with your name on, it might not be advertised yet, or even created, but it's there. And if you don't get the jobs you are currently applying for, it's because you need to be available for Your Job. Mysterious ways, eh?

Hi Piq, have you thought about mobile broadband? There's no broadband where we live either and we use just mobile. It's very fast and reliable (assuming, of course, you have a good signal) and pretty cheap. We've got one of those Tmobile wireless pointer things which powers several computers/phones at once for £10 monthly, although I'm thinking of defecting to Three who have an equally good signal here and have really good offers.

Good luck with the job, hope you hear soon x

Actually it's something I've been thinking about looking into, being naturally lazy I've taken my time :rotfl:and am now suffering for it!

Re the interviews Piq I think it takes 3 or 4 to get one's eye in again. Coming over well in interviews is a skill which needs constant practice to do well, so it's not surprising that you feel you could have done better after a long gap.

The problem is that I get so few chances of interviews, very few and far between. I'm not a naturally nervous person, but I'm getting that way at interviews. I so desperately want a job that I can't think straight.

Twenty two pounds? That's amazing! Well done, you must feel fantastic!

I try to be myself, but I'm not myself when dressed up to the nines in a suit, if that makes sense. It's been so long since I've been 'office Piq' that I've lost track of her, not even sure if I want to be her again anyway.

It needs to come along very soon, I am losing hope here.

Thank you! I do still have loads to lose but have been using this website here, weighing everything and avoiding the usual suspects such as potatoes and bread, chocolate and wine.

But enough about me! Piq, have you thought about doing some temp work? even start with basic admin, I doubt if you'll earn less than you do now, and it will be fulltime and, you never know, it might lead to bigger and better things!!
  • Have you thought of wearing interview/office-type clothing just to do the shopping (etc) in? I wore smart clothing for the school run, trips to Sainsbury's, wandering around Ikea...everywhere really. I felt a bit overdressed at times but it helped me to feel at ease in workwear again, not like I was a 6 year old trying on my mum's high heels.

All the weather forecasts say it is raining, well, they need to get out here fast and tell the white stuff to go away and get watery! It's ruined poor Colin's morning poop and patrol, he's shot back indoors in horror  Funny really as he enjoyed it last time. I'm going to have to go out and top up the bird seed in my dressing gown in a minute [not getting dressed until I get ready for work].

I like the idea Snagggles, but dressing up brings to light a whole new problem....I've put on weight through the wrong thyroxine dose and being so very fed-up. How are you losing weight Caroline? I don't want to join a weight loss journey with the debt journey. I firmly believe that they should be kept separate as I'm the sort of person that if I lapse on one, I think 'oh sod it' and give up on all :o

Having said that, all of you keep me on track money-wise, maybe if I added a separate bit to my diary entries it would help. I'll give it a go and see if it works.

    ...and here it is:

    Piq's fat drop
Day 1: Started. Scales horrific. Haven't eaten anything yet and it's already 8:18am - go me!
