Morning Piq and others
Fingers and hooves crossed for the interview and fab that they managed to sort our your mortgage claim ok.
So a question to ask you horsey bodsThinking of showing hossie this year, doing some in hand, now given the fact that she has only just started long reining, been in a horse box once which was a horrific experience i.e. picked up and manhandled in (not by me!) and she hasnt been out of the safety of the yard, do you think I am asking too much!!
My personal opinion is to sort out the boxing issues first. If travelling upsets her a lot she'll associate showing with the horrible experience.
Quiet and calm armed with a bucket of carrots should sort out the horse box issues. If she objects, put her in the stable until calm and start the process again. Never get upset, just step away until you are calm. She'll pick up on your feelings and act accordingly!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Definitely not asking too much - I think its a great experience for youngsters to go out and learn manners out of home in a different environment - provided you dont put too much pressure on yourselves. Just work on the loading / travelling issue first like Piq says and once she realises its fun to go out to 'parties' you will both love it. But if the whole experience is a nightmare from the time she puts her feet on the trailer she will associate the whole going out as traumatic.0 -
Hi P and friends
Sorry not been on in ages. Glad to hear Captain is feeling good and well lol. Loved the image of him roaring around over little jumps. The way my old chap behaved last Sunday I am seriously considering bring him back into proper work!
So relieved to hear that they have sorted the mortgage payment out for you too. I find it odd that someone would wonder why you are working at Pr*t in this day of age. The economy is rubbish, people are getting made redundant and they have bills to pay! I do hope that you end up with a face to face interview though as well.
Have a good weekend x0 -

This!
If you've got access to a box you can borrow for a couple of weeks, there's an alternative way of doing it - park the box in her field and feed her in it. Start by putting her hay and bucket at the bottom of the ramp and then each day move it a little further inside. A friend of mine does this with all his youngsters in their first winter and by the following spring they're self loading!0 -
Oh Happy I thought I had found a kindered spirit...................I must the be the only person in the world who just doest get it..........doesnt even raise a smile:o And I have tried......... really tried:)

THIS done on many an occasion with various nags over the years and when they get in without issues try with boots / whatever you will travel them in so they get used to being "dressed up" in party gear when going off to play. Gets to the point they practically canter up the ramp in search of the carrot I used to jam the carrot in the webbing at the front of the lorry so they didn't mug me on the way up. Although it is worth practicing unloading calmly too rather than launching off the top ramp - the Ginger Ninja's favourite trick as a wee youngster was to stand at the top of the ramp, head as far up in the air as possible, neigh like a loon and then jump from the top to the bottom of the ramp|! Not pleasant to be holding on to at the timeStart info Dec11

Astonishingly I still have access to t'internet, wonders will never cease. I'm probably the only person left in the world still on dial up. My little corner of the world hasn't hit the big time technology-wise yet.
Bit of a whingy moment. I ache, my hips ache, my knees ache and so does my backThat'll be eight hours standing or running up and down stairs with a ten minute break. I've been sitting down most the evening and I'm struggling to get off the sofa, really struggling! I'm like a very old lady hobbling across the room, painful. I've taken painkillers, that's helped a tiny bit and I'm chock full of cod liver oil _pale_
Certainly work is hard, physically. I feel like my skeleton is bruised
Still, the good thing is that I bought home soup, a lovely egg florentine sandwich, ten bananas and four apples. Saved cooking dinner, means there will be chocolate and banana muffins in the freezer and the Captain gets a snack or four
I wrote a thank you note to the phone interviewer and posted it this morning, can't hurt my chances, but I really feel I blew it anyway.
I'm now snuggled up with a corner of the throw with Colin sprawled out next to me. Might be a hot chocolate in the offing shortly, anyone fancy one?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Yes please!!
Great re another interview..do chalk it all up to experience and I agree that it's harder in many ways as we rely on non verbal cues most of the time..I seem to remember something about a 77/23 rule in favour of the non verbal..
Have a great weekend. We are down the stables again tomorrow..girls can't wait but I will taking something in a hip flask (!) and wrapping up very warm!
