  • I used ceramic hock boots on my chap with success. They are pricey but did the biz. Google Back on Track.

I'm usually surfing the web at unusual times too, mainly due to a small feathery one wanting my attention. Are you on Linked In? I hear it can be really good for networking and finding golden opportunities.

So sorry to hear things aren't going well dearest Piq, work sounds a real nightmare, hope it settles back down soon.

I wish I had a cure for insomnia as I often cannot switch off my brain but do agree that music/audio books help.

I'm only popping in as I've got to start getting ready for work shortly. So I haven't thanked any of you for your help and love, I'll do that tonight when I'm back and can give you the time you deserve.

Feeling more upbeat again, although worried about money [when are we not?]

    G'day Piq

Thanks for your nice words. I've been reading but not feeling like commenting especially after my last rant :rotfl:.

Sorry to hear that you're having a down blip and that it's affecting your sleep. I hate it when that happens can't really give any advice to help but like the other suggestions of audio books I tend to chuck on a chick flick dvd and just roll over and close my eyes and whilst listening to the movie I do fall asleep. However a word of warning Titanic not so relaxing to listen to :o

Really sorry it's pants at work too, stupid things like that have happened at DH's workplace and it's the silly couple of people that ruin it for everyone else.

Wishing you good vibes for the weekend and hopefully you'll find something that's even better for you.

  • My turn to skim read Piq, I just read the The Golden Goose wears ceramic hock boots to help her sleep !!

The Audio books sound a good idea Im sure they would make me fall asleep. I hate listening to other people reading aloud.

Hope today at work was bearable x

    Hiya Piq

Keep on trying to post on MSE whilst on the train but the Internet then conks out..so I lose the post..and see that my post of yesterday didn't work:o not that it was very meaningful or anything..;) just wanted to say that I do think you need to give yourself credit for making progress. Not getting a job you could do in your sleep is absolute b.llix..but I also recall that you were worried about not getting any interviews..and you have now had 2 in the last few weeks. Surely that's stuff looking up??? I do hope so but also I do think it will come right for you. Your tenacity will pay off...it will.

Hear there's a party on at Mrs PG's tonight :D maybe that will chase the cobwebs away:T

Have a great weekend..hope you can get a hack on Captain and that Colin provides some entertainment ;)

    Lots of love

Jumping Jacks it's Friday, which is a good thing is it not? When I'm working (currently on mat leave) the best part of the weekend is Friday night. The whooooole weekend sprawled out ahead of you to enjoy.

Glad you are feeling upbeat. Bouncing back is a sign of strength.

Hi Piq, so glad you are feeling more like your old self, can't keep a good Piq down eh? I too am sorry that you didn't get the job, however the feedback was very encouraging. Social Media - OMG how that term resonates with me. For years and years (I thought they were the best years of my life, then I turned 50 and discovered that indeed they were not) I worked for a small company and worked very hard and contributed to their success as they grew and grew. As I got older, as indeed did the owners of the company, real life moved on and eventually they sold out and they were replaced with young graduates not much older than my kids. Of course it then became all about 'blue sky thinking' and all that stuff, the like of which I had never heard. The first time they mentioned social media I had to ask my (much younger) colleague what they were on about. All of a sudden everything became about facebook and twitter, telephone calls had to follow a script and letters were discouraged to be replaced by e mail with the encumbant abbreviations and acronyms which were totally alien to me. I kid you not, I only subscribed to a mobile phone 5 years ago, and only then because my elderly parents were ailing and I spent much time on motorways visiting them. The first time DS2 telly texted me and put lol at the end, I had to ask her what she meant by one oh one - I kid you not.

So, poor old Dorothy felt like the office dinosaur, and as I have lived a sensible (read boring) and frugal life, thus had no debts or indeed mortgate, I decided to have a break. So I did. It lasted all of 3 months, when I was head hunted (by someone with whom I had corresponded - a disgruntled customer no less - during my time with afore mentioned company) and offered a job with a far better salary, closer to home and perks the like of which I could only have imagined. Yes, I am well out of my comfort zone, come home from work totally kernackered most nights, but I love it.

So you see, Piq, you never know what's around the corner. I think you have probably lived as long as I have, and no doubt you will have had ups and downs in your life - which is as it should be - how can you appreciate the ups if there were no downs to compare them to? So you will know that you WILL get though this, only this time it will be even better cos you have Colin now (in big letters cos I don't know how to reduce the font) and us of course - we're not going anywhere.

Stay strong love. What do I do when I can't sleep? Think about getting out of bed, walking to the spare room via the loo of course, picking up the duvet and pillow, taking it into the lounge, putting it on the sofa, making a nice cosy nest which would warm up about 6am and putting the telly on quiet, all in the freezing cold of course, and do you know what? I magically fall asleep mid contemplation. Try it.

    Dot
