So poor I can't even pay attention

Owls aside, I got most my set chores done with the exception of the job application. Unfortunately, a couple of large glasses of wine happened
and it's not a good idea to do anything important when mellow.
Today I met my mum and dad for breakfast, coffee and croissants [and I wonder why it's hard to lost weight :rotfl:] Mum gave me a huge boxed set of royal jelly bath products that she had been given :j she doesn't like such things, soap and water girl, nothing fancy! I love bubbles and body lotions so am very pleased indeed!
The Captain is back to normal, so we played with poles and cones for an hour or so, well until he got his brakes back. He didn't want to stop cavorting round the schoolHe also managed to steal his neighbour's carrots from their dinner whilst passing. It's very hard to pull a horse out of a bucket
I made pea, courgette and creme fraiche soup today and it was lovely, very green too. I've got plenty for a couple of lunches in the week as well. Tomorrow I'm going to do something with butternut squash, kidney beans and rice. Yes, it's use up the contents of the cupboards and fridge time of the month....Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Argh, how horrible. I hate that sensation. For ages afterwards, you feel on guard and too wired to sleep, and while you wait for that to pass, all the worries come flooding back in, and dozing back off is impossible. I usually eventually fall asleep a couple of hours before the alarm goes off, and then struggle to get up for work. Until about 10am, coffee is my only friend.
I love owl noises, but despite being on the edge of a wood, we don't get them here. We do get a fox that barks/howls/screams though! Not the best thing for soothing you to sleep!I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. Oh goodness me the full body jerk awake usually ended up sitting bolt upright in bed.
Try some yoga meditation type stuff? One that I use is to close eyes, lie wrapped up on back, arms slightly away from side, legs with feet slightly turned out. Breathe slowly and focus your mind on each muscle group. That is foot, calf, thigh etc tighten up muscle hold for count of five, then let go with out breath. When you have done the whole of your body (do legs, butt, back, front, arms, shoulders, neck face ) then focus on the spot in between your eyes but behind your eyes, so sort of where your brain starts.
Breathe in white light and then count. One count per slow breath. Makes you focus and stops the brain thought train.
Worth a go. I found I needed to get my brain to do something otherwise it is like it has permission to stress.Start info Dec11

I'm afraid whatever I do to try to relax it happens. As Snagggles says you end up waiting for it to happen. It becomes a never ending circle of self prophesy.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I have just spent a blissful day with DGD, well some of it was blissful. We bought her a sledge which she promptly fell off and refused point blank to get on again - well that was a tenner wasted, I just hope that her baby brother is more adventurous next year! Then we took her to the indoor shopping centre and paid £2.50 to rent one of those plastic cars on sticks that you push around. She thought it was great for all of 10 mins then proceeded to climb through the windscreen and run off. So we returned the car and she refused to hold either my or Mr Dot's hand so I bought some walking reigns for £12 which she wore
quite happily until she realised that they restrained her so just lay down on the floor and refused to get up - she's not even two yet! So then we came home.
She has been lovely all afternoon but still a handful and refused to have her nap - she's in the lounge now, in her travel cot - reading aloud and Mr Dot is on the sofa having a snooze, it's like that scene from Tootsie.
I did laugh reading this Dot, I remember the independence of a toddler so well. So endearing and frustrating!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I seem to remember reading that the 'jolt' sensation is some sort of flaw in our brain that interprets the signals of us falling asleep as us slipping into unconsciousness, so our body has a last-ditch attempt at shocking us back awake.
Not sure if it's true, and it still happens to me anyway, but I feel better for thinking there's a reason.I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. I did this once and ended up with dreadful cramp, resulting in me hopping round the bedroom trying to stretch said muscle and when I did the damn cramp moved on to the next muscle group.... and no, it didn't help me sleep! :rotfl:0 -
