So poor I can't even pay attention

Might do. You obviously made a big impression on her. Do you know her name? Can you contact her and ask her to bear you in mind? Or pimp you about to others she knows .
I sent her a hand written note to say thank you for her time after the interview.
I think I need to appear more stoney faced or something. People just don't seem to believe being pleasant gets the job done! Seriously, I didn't really have the up-to-date skills necessary for the role. Thing is, selling a brand is selling a brand, it's not that different regardless of technology.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

As I suspected I didn't get the job. The feedback was that I am probably the nicest person the interviewer has ever met. However she felt that my skills were no longer up to date and it would take me time that they don't have to bring me up to speed. She felt that all the senior management would listen to me but that wasn't enough. So it's back to the drawing board I'm afraid. All that slanket and pom pom waving didn't pay off this time
Oh B0ll0cks, so sorry to hear that

Hi Piq, so sorry to hear that you didn't get the job. You are quite right with the 'no prizes for being nice' thing.
I'm with taxi73 here, is there any way for skill updating?

Hi Piq
Sorry to hear the pom-pom waving didn't win you the job. However, you have such support and also from the interviewer - its not all 'flannel' - I agree with Golden Goose and gallygirl. The impression you made may well lead to introductions you didn't expect. I like the handwritten note to thank her for her time. You will get something - I'm sure of it! You may not be so sure at the moment, Piq, but you will see .......
Thinking of you

Help Piq and others. Friend has booked us a polo lesson. Suitable for novices and experienced riders. Don't think they meant someone who's never ridden before though . How do I:
a) stay on
b) look as if I'm enjoying myself
c) manage to swing the mallet thingy without clouting the horse
d) if the horse runs away with me on it and I clout in with the mallet will it stop .
Many thanks.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Oh crumbs, you're going to hurt the following day!!
Firstly, have a look at these videos from Heather Moffett:

for how to sit on a horse at all three paces (though you're unlikely to be cantering if you tell them you've never ridden before).
You probably won't be given a mallet and a real horse together until you've had some practice swinging the mallet from a wooden horse, so don't worry too much about that.
If you get run away with, grab the front of the saddle with one hand (or the neck strap if they've given you one) and lean back. Whatever you do, don't lean forwards or let your legs slide back, this is the quickest way to sliding off over the horse's shoulder.
It would really, really help if you can have a lesson at a normal riding school before you go though!0 -

As Penny would say 'What fun!'
Caz is right, you will ache a bit the next day and a bit more the day after. Riding uses muscles you didn't know you had and unless you're a floozy of the worst type, how shall I put this?....you may feel a little stretched.
Actually they do lessons for non-riders, you're not going to be put in a situation they can't cope with. I think a great deal of it will be off pony anyway. They'll give you the quietest of ponies [read barely moving] and you'll have a great time. You don't have to do it, you can watch from the sidelines and sip Pimms if you prefer.
Actually the Pimms would help with plastering a grin on your face, thereby looking like you're enjoying yourself :rotfl:

It means knowing all there is to know about social media and how branding works there. I think it was the sonics side that let me down mostly.
If I had a choice I wouldn't go back there anyway, my heart's not in it anymore. Plus I've grown out of it strange to say.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
