Eek - breaking news tonight: "Horse meat found in burgers" - as bought in Tesco (29% apparently) and traces in burgers from Aldi, Lidl and Iceland. Quite upset about this, as I expect all horse lovers are .... I have nothing against people eating horse meat except a) they should NOT be subjected to horrible long distance journeys to the slaughterhouses, and b) I think you should be able to choose to eat it, not have it sneakily inserted into a BEEF burger .... sorry, rant over, but what a horrible story. I will definitely not be sharing it with my horses, far too upsetting for them (although when the Tricky Mare used to act up, I have been known to whisper "salami ... " in her ear). Do hope the Captain doesn't get to hear about it, I am sure he would be very shocked.
PS Do hope your cold is getting better, Piq.0 -

These burgers are at the bottom end of the market so to be honest a bit of horse meat is the least of their worries .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hello! New to your diary but have enjoyed reading it so much. I'm amazed at how well you have done with the debt repayment despite the job hassles, and love your animal tales. *subscribes*

Did you survive work and the cold?
Hope cold is not as icky as mine has been, otherwise I recommend doing nada and hiding under a duvet
It is a horrible cold and nada would be truly magnificent [done a bit of nada, but real life gets in the way]

I never eat meat so don't look at the ingredients, but I agree about the travelling conditions for horses going to slaughter round the world, and come to that any animal in the same situation.
I always tell the Captain that I could swap him for a toblerone and on some days I happily would! These burgers are at the bottom end of the market so to be honest a bit of horse meat is the least of their worries .
Very true. It's a great reason for only preparing your own food from scratch and avoiding processed stuff! What's with the onions?Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I've got a cold
and it's a stinker! Yesterday I struggled to get anything done as my brain has been substituted for cotton wool, which reminds me, must buy some today.
I actually forgot to collect my tablets even though I passed right by the doctor's door  Today I'm going to have to make a detour and use up fuel
The Captain is loving the snow and ice. He's running and jumping around like a foal, delightful to watch. He's in overnight though, I'm a soft touch and like him snug and warm in his checked rug once it's dark.
Really, really fancy beans on toast today. I think I might have some for breakfast. I have some slices of bread in the freezer that can go straight in the toaster.....
Once again, off to work. The car is going to take some major de-icing and I need to leave early to get my forgotten tablets!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Good luck with the car deicing, I walked to work yesterday as I hate driving in the snow but I hate walking on icy footpaths more so defrosted it was, except apparently the car decided to refreeze the door whilst I was driving so that was fun to get out of!HSBC CC - £3000 / £3000
