I haven't posted for a day or so, probably because I live such a boring life...
I did get out for a hack on Sunday, it was a lovely autumn day and my friend Richard suggested we took the horses out to the woods. The woods are lovely in autumn with the leaves turning colour or down in huge swathes of reds and yellows. The horses were enjoying kicking through the leaves and in the case of the Captain swerving round the puddles. When out of nowhere the Captain decides it's time for a gallop without brakes  Richard's horse thought it was a great idea too....So there were two large horses flat out through the woods, over ditches, under trees and definitely over a few logs  All you could hear was the thunder of hooves and that well known rider's litany of 'ohshitohshitohshitohshit.....'
Naturally, he came back to walk when he'd had enough and, obviously, I started breathing again sometime within the next half hour or so.
Richard thought it was great, him being a speed junkie and all that that entails :rotfl:
The dear old git, the Captain, not Richard, is as spry as ever, not stiff or aching in the damp weather. As for me, I've been hobbling around with stiff hips and knees :rotfl:
This morning I've cleaned down all the kitchen cupboard fronts, descaled the kettle, cleaned the fridge and am about to wash the floor. Told you my life was boring.
Yesterday I worked, so hopefully, as long as my wages aren't messed up, a few more pennies will hit the account. I've been asked if I would strip some wallpaper for the lady whose garden I cleared and need to arrange what day to do that.
I must find some more work, there have not been very many jobs out there for a few weeks now. I'm quite happy to do odds and sods in the meantime, but that's hard to come by too.
Leek cheese and potato pie tonight, will make the pastry shortly. I've already made a loaf of bread, toffee apple lemon cake and tomato soup. Fair bit of which is going in the freezer.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

@hrist Piq..that may be a boring life to you but it seems a well fed one to me :rotfl:
The hack on Sunday sounds fun. The weather here in the SW was glorious too..I loved it. Really outdoor weather.
Will be trying the Limoncello. So much chat about it on your thread. Has to be done AND it's ringing the changes for the Brizzle household as we are usually a sloe gin household...HEY maybe I could do both. Now theres a thought:T

Second this! And also, have you ever considered writing a blog? Your life is very interesting and the way you write is very entertaining so I'm sure a blog would be a big hit! You can also earn some extra pennies doing it if you're willing to put in a bit of time...Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Toffee Apple Lemon Cake
This is a use up left-overs cake. I've sort of combined several recipes and this is what turned out.
I made some lemon yogurt earlier in the week there was a portion left over. I was also given 14 bruised apples from work. I decided to use a couple of the apples rather than donate the whole lot to the Captain. Despite what he will tell you, he can't count so won't miss a couple!
The cake part of the recipe uses a yogurt pot as a measure. I used a cup and it turned out fine. It is a very light and moist cake and it keeps well in the cake tin. I lie. It doesn't keep well at all. It is a noisy cake that keeps shouting at you to eat it never shutting up until it is all gone...
Ingredients
2 apples peeled and sliced
butter
brown sugar
1 pot of lemon yogurt
2 pots of plain flour
1 pot of castor sugar
1 pot of vegetable oil
2 eggs
2.5 teaspoons of baking powder
Method
Butter the base of a non-stick cake tin
Sprinkle with brown sugar
Arrange apple slices on top of the sugar
Tip the yogurt into a bowl
Using the same pot/cup add flour, castor sugar, oil, eggs and baking powder
Mix together to form a batter type mix. It will combine really easily
Cover apple slices
Cook at 180 degrees [gas 4] for approximately 30 to 40 minutes or until a knife comes away clean from the centre of the cake.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Thank you. There are so many cookery blogs out there one more wouldn't be noticed.
I cook when stressed, I find it relaxing. I'm also on a personal challenge to use up all left-overs. Even the vegetable peelings go into the compost bin!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

morning, not boring at all, especially the well known litany how I miss that. have offered to donate the last of the ginger ninja's stuff to DS pony .... it's silly it being in a box but I am not sure I want people to use his head collar, favourite rug (the first one I ever bought the darling but certainly not the last!) even if it is my sister! Odd what we get attached to really isn't it.Start info Dec11
