You sound very fed up - hope the day has improved. What a pain about your wages being messed up.

How is Colin getting on with his diet? One of our cats who had been a stray used to eat anything and everything bless him. He had to go on a diet eventually but luckily he liked the food and it worked for him, the lovely boy.

Hope you hae a better day tomorrow :D

sorry to hear about your wages being wrong again..how annoying..hope they ca sort is soon x
  • That's awful news about the mistake on your pay, an extra day off is all very well but not when you're losing money, and a wet day off is just pants. Surely they could have offered cash in hand to compensate for their error?

You still have a rag and bone man call?? That conjured up some childhood images :) The rag and bone man use to come down our street with an 'orse an' cart - huge shire horse called Bootsy and we used to give the man all our rags and bones ( actually ever did see any bones !) and feed Bootsy carrots apples and sugar lumps..............cue Hovis ad......I am not that old BTW!!

I AM that old and fondly remember the rag and bone man coming up the hill to my mother's road and no, he never seemed to get bones, just all old scrap stuff. His cart was pulled by a small, wide, very hairy but always glossy black pony, which I fancied from my 'Observer's Book of Horses and Ponies' to be a Fell. In the 1960s the local nursery (plant, not childcare!) still worked its land with Shire horses, who were stabled round the corner from my primary school. My pal Marion and I were allowed to go straight from school on Fridays to brush Billy, Dolly and Bonnie, from wooden stepladders.

I'm trying to watch a programme about the real War Horses and am blubbering, work tomorrw and I must go to bed.

Got a butternut squash for 69p, one of the Aldi Super 6 this week, and plan to try your soup recipe tomorrow :)

Hi Piq so sorry to hear about the money mess up, is there anything you can get done to stop it happening again?

I don't think so. It's carelessness on the manager's part I think. Just not checking against the rota and entries onto the system.

Sorry to hear work have made a b00b. Hope you can get it sorted. Not a lot I can do about the weather, duvet and a dvd.

That's what I did! Throw, hot chocolate, cake and catch up TV. Waste of a day really :(

His diet is going okay. He's probably getting a little more than he should :o I have swapped him onto a lower calorie type dry food. I can see he's lost weight, he's not so chunky around the neck and shoulders. He, incidentally, is very unimpressed at the diet idea. Luckily he has a very quiet squeaky miaow, so I can pretend I didn't hear him. Not so easy to ignore him when he's wound round my legs though...:D

No, they won't do that. It's all completely above board, no cash in hand. They are more then willing to add the missing hours to the next week's pay but that messes up my claim with the mortgage and jsa. Just have to bite the bullet and lose the money :(

It's frosty but sunny here today. I've put the heating on for an hour to warm the house through.

I'm hoping to get an hour in the garden before I go to the stables. I might even get to to out on a hack :j

I was naughty yesterday and bought three clematis for 99p plus £4 postage. I really shouldn't open the emails from the garden centre...

you shouldn't have to take the hit on your mortgage payment for their mistake though
  • Sorry to hear about the pay muck up. Always infuriating when that happens.
I made a small batch of Limoncello at the weekend for my brother's birthday.
I only made a 500 ml batch as it doesn't need to be a huge gift and I was working with what supplies I already had (I have £6 left to last til the weekend as I'm trying to stick to a v strict monthly budget to kick some overdraft butt). Only needed to buy lemons. Was done and washing up within 30 mins. It's now sitting and steeping on the side covered in clingfilm and a plate. I give it a little swirl every other day rather than stir it to keep the bugs out.

I have added the ingredients to my shopping list! Not sure when I'm going shopping this week, I seem to have plenty in for the time being.
