It was always a necessary grocery for the Bear - cat milk! He loved it nearly as much as he loved cream cheese. But I can't bury him in a giant cream cheese container, much as he would have liked it! A milk churn will do just fine!
Katy loved her milk too, she had full fat milk everyday, always had since I got her, would not drink water.0 -
I only have a boring run-of-the-mill day to report on. It's gone like this:
- checked for jobs - none
- half-an-hour hacking back of back garden - three quarters of the way up the first side now
- cleared ten items of clutter for bin and lots of paper shredded for recycling
- four hour shift at Pr£t - 2 nectarines and a salad for tea
- ten minutes blackberrying - they go perfectly with the nectarines in a smoothie for breakfast
- another half hour chopping back the giant hebe and sawing the stem of a dead rose [vicious thing!]
Now I'm reading diaries and trying to think of minor housework that doesn't turn into some huge chore!Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Hi All
Sorry, have not been about for a while, as I said previously Dad has been in hospital for some time and it wasn't a great time. He sadly passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning. It was a big shock, but at least he is comfortable at last.
Piq, I hope things are getting a bit better for you without The Bear and your daughter.
I will come back soon.

I've managed a NSD. I was going to do a food shop, but I couldn't be bothered, too hot. So I cobbled together a spicy bean and cheese bake with a sort of salad on the side. It was a sort of salad in that it had tomatoes and cucumber but nothing else as I've run out of salad!
Bought home a couple of bananas and nectarines, that'll make a smoothie for breakfast. Cleared a little bit of garden and done b*gger-all this evening!
Tomorrow is a day for the Captain, really looking forward to it. I'll take him to the woods as it will be a cooler ride for him. I thought I'd get up early, clear the chores whilst it's still cool then go out to play.
I should go to bed, but I'm sleeping so badly, it hardly seems worth it. I just get stressed at not being able to sleep, ridiculous state of affairs...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Yesterday was certainly less boring and run-of-the-mill. To be different and slightly unpredictable I shall run through the day backwards, saving the most exciting news for last.
Early evening Mum and Dad popped over bringing with them a box of red wine from their visit to France  a nice gentle Corrbiere (sp?) and I didn't open it either! Also a huge bag of runner beans, all young and fresh, no stringy ones at all. Picked from their friends allotment. I spent the evening after they'd gone slicing, blanching and freezing.
In the afternoon I went for a ride with a friend and her daughter, the idea was to meander around the woods as it was so hot and see if we could see the woodpecker that cut off the local electricity. No such luck! The Captain decided quite early on, he didn't want to go. Cue much standing in the ditch facing the opposite way to the two other horses, dramatic trotting up the road away from the other horses. Whoever said that horses always have herd instinct and want to stay with other horses clearly hadn't met the Captain! So the hack involved a lot me shouting at the Captain to make him move in the direction I wanted to go. A lot of leg action from me, now meaning my legs ache and I've got a five hour stint at Pr£t to go! And copious amounts of sweat in the heat from both of us! I won the argument, but I can't say I enjoyed the hack. He got a bath when we got back, whilst I was still hot and sticky. Sometimes, just sometimes, I do not enjoy riding at all....
Now for the morning....
A friend called, a friend who just happens to work at the cat sanctuary.....
A cat had turned up, with my name on him....
Please would I just go and see him. I didn't have to have him, but just go and see him and hear his story. So I went.
This cat had been found living by a river as a stray, very friendly to anyone he met including the RSPC4 who were called. He was found to have a microchip and his owners were traced to 30 miles away, but had moved over 200 miles away some three months previously. Through the police they contacted the owners who said he must have run away and they didn't want him anyway as they had new carpets and had got used to life without a cat! He had clearly been dumped as cats don't wander 30 miles.
He is another huge tabby, this time with lots of white and a tabby back. As soon as I walked in, he started to purr and rub his head under my hand for more stroking.....He is young, just two and lovely. He different to the Bear, who I still love and miss, but he needs a home. He has a ridiculous name for a cat.....
and here he is.... Colin
I collect him tomorrow! I don't think the Bear would mind, he was a rescue cat too.Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30
