Captain sounds like a loveable sod, get those legs working for Christmas girl!

Oh Colin looks lovely. I so miss having a cat. Whilst our current house is 'ok', it is right by a very busy main road, and I couldn't bear it if a cat got run over. Let alone what it would do for the kids. So for now we will stay with a rabbit.
It is so cute, he lets my DS1 hold him upside down when they have the twice daily cuddles, and it looks like he nods off. Bless. A very good rabbit. Just having to think about getting his nails clipped though as they are VERY sharp. Is this something one should get done anyone?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Yesterday was certainly less boring and run-of-the-mill. To be different and slightly unpredictable I shall run through the day backwards, saving the most exciting news for last.
Early evening Mum and Dad popped over bringing with them a box of red wine from their visit to France  a nice gentle Corrbiere (sp?) and I didn't open it either! Also a huge bag of runner beans, all young and fresh, no stringy ones at all. Picked from their friends allotment. I spent the evening after they'd gone slicing, blanching and freezing.
In the afternoon I went for a ride with a friend and her daughter, the idea was to meander around the woods as it was so hot and see if we could see the woodpecker that cut off the local electricity. No such luck! The Captain decided quite early on, he didn't want to go. Cue much standing in the ditch facing the opposite way to the two other horses, dramatic trotting up the road away from the other horses. Whoever said that horses always have herd instinct and want to stay with other horses clearly hadn't met the Captain! So the hack involved a lot me shouting at the Captain to make him move in the direction I wanted to go. A lot of leg action from me, now meaning my legs ache and I've got a five hour stint at Pr£t to go! And copious amounts of sweat in the heat from both of us! I won the argument, but I can't say I enjoyed the hack. He got a bath when we got back, whilst I was still hot and sticky. Sometimes, just sometimes, I do not enjoy riding at all....
Now for the morning....
A friend called, a friend who just happens to work at the cat sanctuary.....
A cat had turned up, with my name on him....
Please would I just go and see him. I didn't have to have him, but just go and see him and hear his story. So I went.
This cat had been found living by a river as a stray, very friendly to anyone he met including the RSPC4 who were called. He was found to have a microchip and his owners were traced to 30 miles away, but had moved over 200 miles away some three months previously. Through the police they contacted the owners who said he must have run away and they didn't want him anyway as they had new carpets and had got used to life without a cat! He had clearly been dumped as cats don't wander 30 miles.
He is another huge tabby, this time with lots of white and a tabby back. As soon as I walked in, he started to purr and rub his head under my hand for more stroking.....He is young, just two and lovely. He different to the Bear, who I still love and miss, but he needs a home. He has a ridiculous name for a cat.....
and here he is.... Colin
I collect him tomorrow! I don't think the Bear would mind, he was a rescue cat too.
Colin is gorgeous! and at only 2 you both will have lots of time to enjoy life together. He needs a mum and a new *baby* to love and care for will be good for you. I am delighted you are going to give him a home. Well done you! xx0 -

I haven't been around for a few days. I'm not sure why. That's not entirely true, I know why, my daughter flies to Australia on the 28th and I'm very sad. I miss her already.
I don't need hugs, it won't make it any easier. This is something she's wanted to do for a very long time and she feels the time is right for her to do it now. Her long term love has returned to Brazil and she wants to move on.
I've taught all my children to be independent and live a life with no regrets, experience all that life has to offer and try not to hurt anyone on the way. Well, now she's going to experience a new chapter on the other side of the world.
I have no job, no money and no way of being able to visit her in the foreseeable future. I'm crying whilst I write this. I haven't told her this, I've done the cheery mum bit, the 'well done darling' thing.
She's asked me to go out to live there with her when she's settled. But how can I? I have other children here, elderly parents, beloved horse and cat. Not to mention debt and unemployment....
I don't need hugs. I probably won't mention this again, because it hurts.
Perhaps it's better that we all stick to the bananas...
G'day Piq
Only just back from my holiday to Oz and haven't read any further than this and feel that I need to say something, and that is that I understand the heartbreak as I've left behind my parents, sister and nieces and nephew. The last few days of the holiday were spent in tears just trying to work out if I'd done the right thing by staying in the UK (been here for 6 years now, was only meant to be a year, bloody husbandpet :rotfl:).
After a long discussion with both the husbandpet and my mum we've come to the conclusion that the UK is the best place for us at the moment and as much as it killed me to leave I am in the place I need to be for this time in my life. Very hard as Niece1 who's 8 asked if we could move closer and Niece2 who's 6 asked when I'd be pregnant so she'd have a cousin to play with.
Don't know if you have mentioned this again and extremely sorry to bring it up if you haven't but (I'm near tears writing this) my parents have told me that they're proud of me for following my heart and for doing what I want to do and also they can see how happy I am especially with husbandpet.
Will leave it at that before I do start crying but if you ever need a chat please feel free to pm as it is something that only a select few will understand.
Love

aww Colin is so cute, I would have not been able to resist him either. I have not got another cat after Katy, cant face one at the moment, but I know I will in time.
I planted lots of pansies in a pot for Katy's grave, they are not out yet but for Autumn, so should look pretty when out. Still looking for a nice memorial stone for her.
Enjoy Colin he sounds like he deserves a nice home.0 -
Hello Piq (may I call you Piq - I feel I know you already. I'm a newbie still trying to find my way round posting and subscribing. I have been so moved by all the things you have had to deal with recently. I have been in tears - through laughter and empathy.
So pleased you have found Colin. I do hope you write about his adventures - along with Captain's and your own.
I wish you well in your life and do hope I can read about lovely Colin.0 -
Ah Piq - so glad Colin and you found each other - sometimes things are just ment to be. I'm sure Bear has orchestrated the whole thing! :T
