Over 40 years old!! That's amazing! and I thought the Captain was an old boy at 26. I hope he gets to 40, he will be a cantankerous old man though!
I'm sure you miss the dog and OH equally :rotfl:Fancy having a French dog, that's class, that is...
I'm sure Captain will keep going strong... My Girl won a (mini - under 2'6") ODE when she was 30! She is amazing for a horse - 15.2, I thought only ponies lived this long...it must be the gypsy is her as she is a ginger and white.
The dog isn't french, she's scottish :rotfl:and actually she hates france, whch is quite amusing - too many cats, lizards, snakes and bigger dogs. She is a townie at heart.
On a serious note, Piq, please dont get disheartened by the job situation. Just try to keep slogging away at it - you know we are all behind you.
Five years ago when we sold everything and went round europe in our campervan everyone thought that I was crazy. i had to give up a good job to do it and lots of people (my mother especially) said I would never get another one, not at my age :rotfl:But, eventually we came back and eventually I did get another job, not the right one the first time but now I have a job that is better than the one I left five years ago. And we seem to have aaquired all the stuff back again...not sure how that happened.Back after 9 years in France ... starting again0 -
This is really sad. I don't really 'know' you, but have always felt from your posts that you have many talents, that you work extremely hard and are very conscientious. The employment situation is horrible, if I wasn't self-employed I would certainly be unemployed, as my field of specialisation is so - well - specialised!
Please, please apply for the "perfect" job - you owe it to yourself, the Bear and Captain, not to mention all of us who are rooting for you. Blame the bankers, blame the politicians, but don't blame yourself for being unemployed. It is NOT your fault, and you WILL get an enjoyable and well paid job soon.
The cake xxxxMorning Piq - just to reiterate the cake - you really need to apply fort he job, actually Bear and Captain need you to apply for the job and we are cheering you on to DFness
If you think it is perfect then bear that in mind and FOCUS the application accordingly. Happy to help as alwaysFortune_Smiles wrote: »Don't give up Piquant. The right job is out there for you just waiting for you to find it. This is one of my favourite quotes when I'm feeling scared about taking a risk...

You're all so right, thank you. I'm not sure what's wrong with me at the moment. I'm just tired of it all and getting nowhere. However, this diary is supposed to be a safe haven for all not a whinging corner. Last night I was too tired to do anything and went to bed early. Today, I am pulling myself up by the bootstraps [what are bootstraps?] and getting on with it. I have a four hour shift 11 - 3. I will do at least two job apps and research one article when I get home. I may or may not apply for the dream job, only because one of the dearest people in the world is reviewing it for me. I have plenty of time the closing date is 26th July.
I woke up in the night to find the Bear stretched out alongside me with his head on my pillow and with his paw on my shoulder. He is supposed to sleep at the bottom of the bed on his sheepskin [mock] square. I think I am going to end up sleeping on the square whilst he gets all the bed...Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Ah the Captain is a gypsy, bred by one and a true gypsy cob, so, based on what you say he will live to be 100

Oh you reminded me - I was in London at the same Victoria station earlier in the week and managed to snaffle 2 bars, and you reminded me these are sitting in my desk drawer, so currently indulging in a very MSE treat (but not so good for the lose weight bit!)
...not my fault
You picked them up! I don't want any pounds they cause sent over here:rotfl:They are nice though, I'm saving all my 20 for breakfasts when I've run out of milk or cereal. Total debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

I have a couple of jobs to apply for, one of which is perfect [one of you sent it to me, you know who you are, thank you] Only problem is, I'm afraid to apply for it. I've had so many rejections or no response at all that it's knocked my confidence big time.
Piquant - do it! You are smart, clever, independent and resourceful woman who has a LOT to offer an employer. Sooner or later there will be one who realises that and snaps you up. The best thing you can do is increase your chances of meeting that employer by applying for as many as possible. It's a pain in the !!!!, its demoralising and sucks but you've just got to do it. There - consider yourself told off. :rotfl:- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Hi P - just popping in to say HI

I keep wishing something good would happen for you - I dont know anyone who tries as hard as you do.x
Dont take this the wrong way as I love my horses dearly but I do hope they dont live until 40
The mardy one will drive me insane and I bet she will get worse in her old age. She will probably be the most preserved veteran around as she is far too pampered being the drama queen she is! She is NOT enjoying this wet weather either and is throwing a strop when I take her a feed up to the field with her vits and supplements in. Last night after finishing her food she picked the bucket up in her teeth and tossed it over at me! :rotfl:
Hope you have a good weekend. Do you work Sat and Sun at the coffee place?0 -
