Hope you manage to sort the money stuff out.You would hope that the people working in job centres and on benefit lines would know the rules and regulations but reading these boards a lot of them don't.
Perhaps somewhere on the government site will have the absolute answer.0 -

Hi Piq, sorry to hear it's not going too well with the man pet. Sounds like he's not ready to move on yet. Still, you've got enough going on in your life without needing a permanent man pet (unless he is exceptionally rich of course

Thank you, that is most appreciated.
Now I've read some of these articles I realise that, yes, you have to be honest on your cv, but it's the way you write the honesty - ridiculous! Agencies have taken it upon themselves to say that they are not going to put anyone forward for jobs if the person concerned is out of work or not employed by a company.
Piq
How can agencies do that? i would expect them to want to put as many forward as possible in the hope of guarenteeing the stonking get referal fee the earn if someone gets a job. It's just unimaginable for them to not put people forwards.0 -
I am in a version of Hell.
The Bear is going to have his teeth done at the vet this morning. This will entail him having an anesthetic, consequently, he hasn't eaten since eight o'clock last night. He is pacing the house yowling and mewing declaring his hunger. He is refusing to use the litter tray tooI have had to 'board' up the cat-flap with cardboard and packing tape to stop him leaving [I locked it, but he just head-butted his way through]
His gums were bleeding, which means the start of a gum infection, which in turn, will mean his teeth will fall out and then he'll have difficulty eating.
I wanted to try the homeopathic remedy that teapot suggested, but I'm going to have to go down this more expensive and risky to Bear route. He is fit and healthy, despite being around fourteen years old.
I'm going to worry about him all day...

I get conflicting advice. The only thing is to wait until the mortgage is paid and see what happens.
Yesterday I went to the Building Society as the DWP wanted to know what percentage of my mortgage repayments were capital, what percentage were endowment and the percentage that was repayment. It is further complicated by the fact that I have two mortgages [all to do with taking on a derelict house year ago and the endowment scandal]
It took a long time for the girl to work it all out and neither of us are sure why the DWP are insistent on having this information as the mortgage is going to be paid by an insurance company not the State.
I have also realised that my endowment payment isn't covered and that's £200 a month. This is all bordering on becoming a little bit too much and kept me awake last night.
I think I will have to give up the idea of writing, I cannot possibly earn enough to save my house and eat. Yet, I'm getting no response to job applications. I have now rewritten the bit on what I'm currently doing so I don't sound unemployed I just need a job application to throw it at!

The Bear has gone to the vets. As a leaving present he left a huge t*rd in the middle of the bath mat. The smell has permeated the whole house.
He sang all the way there, tarted himself over the lady vet, then threw up on the surgery floor.
I feel so guilty, but shouldn't, he'll live longer with teeth! I want him back, but I can't call until 2.

He'll be fine Piq and you know you are doing the right thing. If my geriatric cat (aged 18½ and skinny as a rake) can survive a general anaesthetic, then the Bear will sail through it. He'll be back before you know it, giving you filthy looks of course, but back none the less.
Chin up.If Plan A fails, remember there are 25 more letters0 -
Thank you tjp
The surgery just called. He's already up, singing and staggering round his kennel like an old drunk! They were surprised at how quickly he came round. He's had three teeth out and the rest are all sparkly clean. I can collect him at two.
There's a small bank of shops near the vets and as luck would have it a mystery shop was available at one of them. I did that on the way back from dropping the Bear off and hopefully have earned £10.
I'm going to make some pastry now, always soothing, if not slimming! Also going to cook some chicken for the Bear, that's what the vet recommended, not sure how much money the Bear slipped her for that recommendation...
Looks like pie tonight!
