Any brides changing their name going to miss their Maiden name?

I'm double barreling my name, I'm quite attached to my name and dont want to give it up. OH understands and is fine with it and I get his name aswell so best of both worlds! Children if we have any will also be double barrelled, OH didnt want to double barrel as our family name will be quite long!

I'm just not sure how to go about double barrelling, and not sure if this is going to go down well with the vicar hmmm.

I always said I'd keep my maiden name. Always saying that for 29 years this is who I have been, this was the name I was given when born. I felt like I was leaving someone behind and I didn't want them to leave and in a way yes I was leaving someone behind, the old me, the childhood me and teenager me and taking my husbands surname was a way of me showing off the new me.

I amazed myself when I suddenly changed my mind, it suddenly didn't feel right.

Yet my maiden name was extremely common so easy to spell and my new surname I have to spell out everytime, I just start spelling it as soon as I say it now rather than waiting to be asked how to spell it.

Other people have always found my maiden name (and first name!) difficult to spell, although I've never really understood why. OH's name is longer and people also can't seem to manage it, even when you spell it out to them. I never wanted to change my name but like the idea of us having the same as well... ie Mr and Mrs XXX. I think I've finally decided to double barrel so I can have three names no one can spell!

Yes.....I love my current surname, it is Polish, very unusual and no one can say it or spell it. My OHs surname is a very common English name and doesn't really go with my first name. I will miss my surname but will be proud to be called by my new surname (even though it is his Mums name!!). I would double barrel but it sounds ridiculous!

I changed my name quite happily, as it was my ex-husband's name and not mine. I did miss my maiden name first time round though.

My son doesn't want to change his surname and that's fine....it's his name and his choice although I'll still get called Mrs 'maiden name' at his school. Fair enough...but he loves his future step-dad who he refers to as his dad

But I have told future hubby that I'm not changing my passport as it runs out in 2015 and will cost a lot to renew it. I'll just need to remember to book any tickets in my maiden name....I can see it going wrong already! :rotfl:

I dont really see my real dad (the odd phone call every couple of months, see him about once every 2 years), and I no longer feel much attachment to my maiden name (i did when my grandparents were alive as I was so close to them but they sadly arent here anymore), and there isnt any Mrs in my ohs family with his surname anymore so I think that makes it a bit more special to me.

I can't wait to change my name either. I have a really common surname, and it will be good to have something different! My dad knew once he had 4 daughters and no sons that it would be the end of his surname in our family... but never mind!

I'm still getting used to my new surname 8 months on.
My old name was simple & easy to spell. My new name is hard to pronounce (the girls at work call me Hyacyinth Bouquet :rotfl:).
But I don't really mind, it's a nice thing about being married

To be honest, the thing I miss the most is my old signature - I spent years perfecting it, and my new one is just a scruffy scribble

I cant wait to change my surname. Its not my maiden name as I have been married before and didnt change it because of my daughter but she is 18 soon, but as my son (not the same father, but had my surname so also his!) is also legally changing his name to my soon to be husbands. We are changing it by deed poll a couple of weeks before the wedding as we are also adding a middle name - Albert - as that was my Grandads name. We will then make a special announcement at the speeches. My Mom will be in floods of tears!!

I cant wait to be Mrs N*****!!
