nilomac - I sent off my first claim about the same time as you, if you remember from the previous thread. So far I've had nothing back, but will be getting the e-mails out to chase up. TMO, if you're reading this, please give me some confidence....

  • Part of the problem is the fact that by increasing from two to five the number of flaming hoops through which one now has to jump to obtain one's cashback (now why would they have done that?) The Mobile Outlet has increased by 150% the administation and paperwork it has to do.

But don't despair: a thread in another forum prompts an idea which those reluctant to resort to the Small Claims Court may wish to consider as an alternative strategy to expedite the issuing of their cashbacks.

On the day that your cashback becomes overdue, go out and buy half a dozen (well, you may need more by the sound of things) extremely potent cheeses, nice and fresh. A formidable Burgundian cheese called Epoisses would fit the bill ideally: a robust variety of goat’s cheese would also be good. Indeed, even a selection of them.

Store these cheeses, unrefrigerated, in a box somewhere safe (like, in a shed outdoors - where it will also keep foxes away!).

Each week, when you then send off a chasing letter to TMO, retrieve one of these cheeses and include it, as a gesture of friendliness and goodwill, with your nice friendly letter.

With each passing week, their advancing ripeness will assist you to convey ever more movingly how much you appreciate the delay in your cashback.

If a thousand people do this…

The crazy thing is that for me, the Dispatch note is one sided, and the other note, the welcome letter has T&C's at the back...

Hopefully, it wont make a difference...

Scanning the things now, and will send everything off in the evening.

Mine was exactly the same, i just kept a copy of both so I can refer to them incase of any problems.

  • I was assured today that they have accepted my claim, and the reason for delay is that their bank has been tardy in sending their cheques. A backlog has built up and no one will be paid until the cheques come in. I was told I will get it next week. And when I asked, no Joe assured me the company is not going into liquidation.

It's a differently interesting excuse. There always seems to be some excuse or another for them not paying people. Usually around about the third week of the month. Read back through the old thread.

The aspect of it all that I find most telling is that the bailiff sent in twice by "AFH1066" to enforce a CCJ on his cashback has not been paid. Now, they are going to have to pay a CCJ, sooner or later. Why would they be running up bailiff's fees (at £75 a time?) if they had enough funds to pay it (let alone us)?

The "and no one will be paid until the cheques come in" is also interesting. What cheques are these? And what are they for? Commission? Commission on which transactions?

There's nothing in the Term & Conditions about having to wait for cheques to come in: they state quite clearly that payment will be made within 28 days of TMO receiving the claim.

Won't pay or can't pay? It is for everyone to draw their own conclusions as to just how far TMO's finances are stretched and just how much further they can actually BE stretched without something dire happening. Bailiffs armed with CCJs being turned away does not look promising.

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Patricia.

Maybe sending them cheeses is the only way they'll get to eat!

I have waited again for my Bluetooth headset and again MO have failed to deliver on their word.

I am still waiting for my Bluetooth headset. No delivery arrived on Tuesday 6th February, as suggested. It is now 3 weeks on!!

Also, my cashback claim is yet to arrive despite being given e-mail confirmation it has been processed.

I have PM'd them again. Hopefully they reply, last time they ignored e-mails and PMs at least three times.

  • Hi,

If anyone has forwarded their claim (over 14 days ago)to The Mobile Outlet and has yet to receive confirmation that thier documents have been received, please email forumqueries@themobileoutlet.co.uk. We will be able to provide an update.

We are in the process of changing the method in which we pay our cash back instalments from cheque to BACS. This change will allow payments to processed more efficiently. We are hopeful that all payments issued from the middle-end of March will be done by BACS.

    Kind Regards

HI I am a newbie to this site
I have just received my 4th Bill and was about to about to submit my claim, so thanks for the information provided here and in previous posts, which have answered some queries I had. With regard to receiving the cashback via BACS, do I need to provide ant further info other than my 4 bills and the dispatch note?

    best regards

Dare one suggest that if you hope to receive a payment by BACS it might not be the worst idea in the world to provide them with the details of a bank account to which to send it?
