Frontline is not working on alot of fleas these days PLUS spraying is guaranteed 2 send my two running!0

Our two (large Maine Coons) have a Program 80 jab every 6 months at the vet. Never had problems with fleas, and they don't wear flea collars.
It's more expensive, but definitely works and is far nicer for the cats (I wouldn't like to have the back of my neck doused in horrible chemicals every month!)0 -
Do NOT buy the Bob Martins stuff that you see on TV adverts,it's useless & considering their flea collars are now banned in France due to concerns about toxicity...0

It is more expensive but for the allergic one I decided to let her have it. Depending on how things go with Seresto collar on the other one it is likely that she will have that after her injection wears off. Chasing around the internet for Program & waiting for deliveries that didn't come:eek: & getting desperate & then buying stuff from other sources etc recently demonstrated that a longer term approach was the way forward. Now I have had a collar prescribed from the vet they will have to sell/give me a prescription for future collars & being able to relax for 1/2 a year cannot be sniffed at (for me or the cats)!:T
The copies/generic versions of Frontline do not work without something else like Programm on cats. Bob Martin stuff is a waste of time/money. Also I think many spot on variants are becoming weaker against fleas - more people should complain when things don't work instead of going & buying new stuff - without complaints manufacturers don't realise a change in formulations are required/necessary!0 -
Do different product treat different types of fleas better, my cat had some fleas on her ears a couple of weeks ago, none of them were jumping/moving, so i treated her with frontline and there was no further signs however now one of my dogs is scratching herself stupid, i'm certain the fleas are rabbit fleas as the cat keeps finding bunnies and bringing them into the garden to the dogs
Edited to say have googled and found the answer - the only product that will treat the rabbit fleas is advantage - frontline wont work - great!!A home is not a home ..... without a dog0 -

Are you sure they're actually fleas and not mites, particularly if they're not moving/jumping much?!“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
What do mites look like? They are identical in look to fleas and had accumalated on 2 areas of her outer ear, and died by drowning them in water (as fleas do)A home is not a home ..... without a dog0

That sounds more like harvest mites to me. They tend to accumulate in the folds of the ear.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
These were on the main body of the ear on the outside (where its furry)if you looked at the cats head from the top and followed the ear from the tip down the right hand side and left hand side they were both sides where the ear meets the head.A home is not a home ..... without a dog0

When my dogs caught and killed a massive rat in the back garden that was jumping alive with fleas I practically drowned the dogs in Advantage.
Thankfully no fleas on the dogs but I'll have to order more flea treatment soon, just as a preventative measure, and it does look like Advocate might be better, so I'll send for some now.
I always like to make sure they're treated especially in the summer months because they only have to play with another dog in the park and God knows how many fleas they might pick up!0
