There does seem to be a bit of a shortage!

petdispensary.co.uk appears to have it in stock for £24.99 free P&P

Pet-supermarket say they expect stock in 3-6 days.

Lots of online suppliers I've never heard of seem to have it in stock, though some of the prices are extraordinary... £45!!

to be honest to be free of entire home contents treating:T I can see why it might be popular - the idea of constantly treating cat & then new offspring jumping on as soon as month's treatment has ended does seem like a vicious circle.

when exactly is flea season? As the packet states to use during flea season & now it's finished (note: I am treating on the neck with stuff but it would be good to know if there is a peak flea season & save myself the bother when it is not!).

Is there really a 'flea season'??
I am assuming maybe they are worse over winter when everyone has their heating going full blast. Except we probably all have our heating on now as it so flipping cold.
No one ever seems to say only treat your dogs for fleas in XXX month. Seems a bit odd. I guess if the place where the eggs drop is warm then the fleas will hatch.
I used to use Program on one of my dogs. Seems a great idea to break the flea population cycle!

  • Most of a flee's life cycle, 95%, is spent not on your cat but in the soft furnishings of your house (carpets, bedding, dust under the fridge too !!). The spot on treatments will keep the flees under control if the flees are reduced to an absolute minimum in your house. The flees only feed on the animal. You must also remember that the spot-on treatments will not kill them instantaneously either.

Consider treating the house with Acclaim.

It is also possible your unfortunate enough that you have a bunch of flees who have developed a resistant to the Frontline.

As for effectiveness of Frontline, I have been using it for 16 years, since my daughter was a baby and I freaked when I saw a flee on her head, and I haven't seen a flee since, nor been bitten with any myself. :)

Treating the house is a pain in the proverbial - sterilising the insects is far preferrable PLUS one cat has flea allergy & gets sores on her jaw sometimes before the month is up. With one housecat & one wanderer there is a regular supply of fertile fleas being brought in.

I would use to spot on flea treatment all year round but would like to minimise additional expenditure on the adjacent Program treatments - ie not use that AS WELL every month for 12 annually.

Ideally use Program during flea more prolific period only (to save money)
