Ok this smoothie is fairly healthy
Ingredients
An orange, 1/2 a pineapple or tinned pineapple will do, banana, 75ml skimmed milk, 100ml of coconut milk and a sprinkling of oats
Method
squeeze orange, remove skin and core from pineapple and chop in chunks. Whizz everything in blender apart from oats until smooth, stir oats into mixture, serve in 2 glasses.£23366/ £39206.92 DFD Nov 20160 -
For healthy smoothies use a banana for a base instead of ice cream/ yoghurt etc. It gives the creaminess. Also put a handful of green veg in it. It will turn your smoothie a nasty colour, but it's a great way to get some veg in and you can't taste it, or it will actually make your smoothie sweeter. (broccoli or spinach will anyway.)Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0

Second the suggestion to buy fruit when it's cheap and freeze. This makes lovely cold smoothies when you come to use them. I've frozen mango and pineapple with no problems. My only suggestion is to take it out and shake it up a bit during the freezing process or freeze in portions or else you can be working at it with a knife to seperate the pieces. Personally I add water as well to loosen it up and make the flavour a bit milder.0

2 spotty bananas
2 table spoonfuls plain yogurt
1 glass orange juice
handful strawberries
handful blueberries
Or:
2 spotty bananas
2 table spoonfuls plain yogurt
1 small tin peaches in juice
handful raspberries
1/2 glass orange juice
press the pulse button & drink!
Each makes over 1/2 litre - ideal for sharing!
You can also make an "adult" version:
2 bananas
2 spoonfuls yogurt
glass orange juice
generous spoonful honey
good slug of brandy0 -
This week my smoothies will mostly contain blackberries. My DD aged 11 went out with her friends to the woods and picked about 3lb of them for me...for free.
They seem particulary delish this year..must be all the rain0 -

Do you guys use an ordinary liquidiser - it sounds as though you do?
I've always been put off by the smoothie machines and juicers etc that seem a lot of work to set up and wash. I can't stand machines which make something in 30 seconds and take 10 minutes to take apart and clean!
I like smoothies though and would love to make them if I can do it without all the faffing!0 -
Yes, can you just use a liquidiser??
also, is there any smoothie recipes that are healthy(low fat), but have NO Banana in?
I dont like bananas, and if there is even 1/2 one in, it gives me stomach ache too..I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
2 bananas (peeled, of course!)
Generous spoonful of honey (either set or runny)
Half a big tub of plain yoghurt.
Put in blender, smoothie maker or whatever, and blitz.
PS. Ignore this one, fuzzgun! Or substitute another fruit for the bananas and see what it tastes like? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Hi jonny,
There are lots of recipes on this older thread that may help:

I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep all the suggestions together.
