    Hello sweet potato fans!

I think they have Vitamin A too, being reddish...

Cheese - mmm! But even despite its allure, I don't understand how you can be keen on it at 20 past 5 in the morning! :) I just feel food-averse then. :)

I'm with you there miggy, I though I could eat 24/7, but thinking about it, I need to warm up first!

...back with the sweet potatoes....they make an amazing chilli! Sweet potatoes go really well with kidney beans. I just bung all the ingredients for the chilli into the slow cooker in the morning, forget about it and at dinner time there is a perfect chilli!

Oh now I have to try that! I love my slow cooker! Any tips or shall I just risk inventing a sweet potato chilli?

I'm a chuck it in the slow cooker and see what happens sort of girl!

    Okay, here's what I do:

    • 1 onion chopped
    • 2 sticks of celery chopped
    • 1 large sweet potato cubed
    • I red pepper diced
    • I large tin kidney beans
    • 1 large tin chopped tomatoes
    • Chilli powder, flakes or paste according to taste [I like mine fairly hot]
    • Small amount of vegetable stock

All in the slow cooker for the day. About an hour before it's due check to see it's not too liquid, add a little cornflour if necessary and 4 squares of dark chocolate, needs to be at least 75% cocoa. This turns the chilli from lovely to sublime. Trust me, a little bit of chocolate gives chilli the WOW factor!

Well, it's clear that Mr BR is going to have to try harder at NSDs!
Yesterday I suggested getting some petrol for the car (we'd already had to pick up a couple bits at a shop) 'No it'll be ok' he says, then lo and behold today he comes home from work having put £20 petrol in the car *grrr*
Starting to get twitchy about how little money we've got to last us until the 24th, but hopefully we'll be ok if we're careful.
Next pay month is going to be 'interesting' as we've got a trip up north to see my folks and a longer trip south to a family wedding (which we cannot stay for the evening do cos it's a 'pay for yourselves' kind of deal) and we obviously can't stay over either. The nightmare is that the wedding is right at the end of our pay month, a few days before April's pay day.
I've suggested (twice) that we take a chunk of money out of the account for the wedding trip, Mr BR says 'how is that any different from leaving it in the account and not spending it?' well no different, of course, except I think we *will* spend it.
