I'm not sure - perhaps I could. I know the last time I asked about it, I was told I wouldn't get any money.
I do a casual job which is a 'as needed' thing at a local college, so I'm not *unemployed* as such, but don't work a lot.
I hate when I crash like this and feel useless at everything and to everyoneOur LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

...and now we've just had a bit of a 'ding-dong' about getting the bike fixed as we've only got so much money left in the sundries (aka emergency/things that are not groceries/petrol) fund.
I'm saying if it's more that 'this' then we shouldn't do it etc etc. But next month we've got a lot of petrol to use (one trip to my family and another to that wedding) and so we *need* as much 'sundry' as possible.

So, this morning Mr BR has gone out to see if he can sell an old (VERY old) laptop that's been living in the cupboard for months. If he can, then that money will be put towards getting the bike fixed. If not then we'll have to take the hit, assuming it's within budget, if not then it can't get done. Today is also 'weigh in' day, so I'm really hoping I've lost this week as I've not had any cup-cakes (didn't bake another batch) or chocolate. Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. It's enough to make you want to just give up.
So, not sure how but I've *gained* 3lbs this week. Rather depressing and I had a cry in Boots! Don't know what I've done/not done to deserve a gain like that. At least last week's gain of 2lbs could be put down to cup-cakes.
No-one seems to want Mr BR's old laptop, too old apparently. Bike still in the new shop however although won;t be looked at until Monday he tells me. He has, however, had his hair cut (£15!!!!!) *sigh*Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568

BR, you have always given me such wise and helpful words - I wish I could now do the same for you. I know that you're coming to the end of an illness but you are also under a considerable amount of stress. I can tell that your behaviours are all stress related, and your current situation isn't helping at all.
What can you do to unwind? Any friends that you can go and visit for a cuppa and a chat? Can you treat yourself to a nice bubble bath and a good book? What you need is a break... I got 2 hours off from everything last week thanks to a very good friend and I felt SO much better for it the next day.
The weightloss will come as well - you know it all goes to pot once you've been ill, don't you? Don't give up! I'm just taking my first tentative steps back on the wagon today.

Don't give up ((big hug))... remember there are people even on the Biggest Loser (my inspiration) whose weight changes are inexplicable and all sorts of things could be behind it - hormones, fluid, even a fault with the scales. And don't forget too that you could have gained as little as 1lb 2oz to tip you across three pounds apparent weight on the scales, IYSWIM.
I'm sorry the bike's causing such a headache. I suppose there's not much to be done before Monday, unless a friend would lend one for a while?
We're having bike hassles too - someone stole DH's bike a couple of days ago.It was rickety and not very safe so I hope no one sues him if they have an accident on it! At least he can walk to work though, and like you we have the car.
Tell Mr BR that if he spends £15 on a haircut again you'll send your friend Miggy to cut it for him - that should frighten him into not doing it!
I wonder if your casual work is the reason you couldn't claim JSA? However, it might not prevent you claiming in the school holidays - might be worth an ask? But hopefully there's someone around who knows more about it than me.
Will keep you in my prayers, have another {hug}, see you tomorrow.Miggy

hi BR i've just come across your diary so thought i would say hello. sorry to hear you've been a bit low with everything, it's completely understandable but your recovering from the illness probably has a lot to do with. (((((hugs))))0

Thanks so much everyone, it's so nice to know I'm not on my own with this.
Today we went for a walk, and we're going to try and get back into walking as often as possible like we used to do but that's fallen by the wayside recently. I've also been looking at our monthly menus and noticed that we're having more meals wioth mash than we used to do, so after tonight's mash meal and potatoes with roast chicken tomorrow night, we're going to try and avoid potatoes we we can. Also I've been having quite a lot of bread recently as well, this too is quite unusual. I'm not a fan of 'healthy' bread either so this has been white sliced *nom*. I'm not going to stop having it but I am going to try not to have as much.
I'm trying very hard to be positive (believe or not) but I don't FEEL positive about anything much atm

I'm going to cut back on carbs a bit as well. I'm horridly addicted to bread. If I don't have it I don't miss it, but then once I do start having it I have it with every meal... There's some research that protein based foods are not only good for weightloss but are also good mood foods as well, so I'm making sure I have some protein every time I eat. You never know, and I like meat/eggs/pulses.Ninja Saving Turtle0
