Does she chew? I used to chew mine terribly, my mother used to say I chewed up to my elbows and it was definitely not pretty! I tried all manner of stop and grow type things but what eventually worked was my mother bought me some cheap stick on nails so mine could grow underneath. Once they had she took off the fake ones and filed mine tidily.

I think for me having catchy bits that irritated me made it impossible to resist picking and chewing. Once that had gone and they already looked quite nice it was easy to not start again.

I think its why I still have problems avoiding chewing the cuticles, I just can't stand the little catchy bits and feel compelled to get rid of them.

I'm forever [STRIKE]nagging[/STRIKE] reminding everyone else in this house to get their nails out of their mouths :(

I agree, it's little hangy bits that are tempting, always file away any thing that could catch. I've successfully "grown out" a nail split with a dab of nail-tip-glue and 2 coats of Nail Envy. Lovely stuff. :D

Well that all went horribly wrong. Water marbling just didn't work whatever temp we had the water. Tried some nail art and stamping that just looked pants so took it all off and resorted to clear for work tomorrow.

Oh the plus side had a good look at some nail !!!!!! on ebay!!! lol. I've got to get me some holographic polish. Any recommendations.

Can anyone recommend a nice gold crackle? I've used Barry M's, but it just seems dull to me. reminds me of dull mustard. Even with copious amounts of glitter, and non-matt topcoat, it still looks meh to me. The effect is almost (on current green nails) green with brownish (desert wear) camo, in addition, it then looks like someone sneezed glitter on. which most certainly isn't what I wanted to achieve! :D

    Silver as well if possible.

    Definitely funky. I'd keep them.
  • Sorry I haven't been posting on this thread for quite sometime now. I have been avoiding this thread on purpose as my nail polish shopping went slightly insane.

Having said that, I have GA roughly 20+ nail polishes since, so hopefully that helped in keeping my stash "under control"

ok off to catch up now :)

This is Bacterium (nice name lol) on it's own but then I decided to give taping a go and added some Scarab on thumb and ring fingers

That flipping tape is so fiddly!!! I really, really hate doing my right hand!

Illamasqua has to be in my top 5 fav nail polish brands

I repainted my nails last night and used one of my oldest lacquers that I don't think I've worn for years - still looks lovely though. OPI Suzy Loves Sydney.

OPI older lacquers are the best!

I seem to have the same problem with marbling and stamping that you do. Trouble is I keep trying to get the same look on the blogs that I read, I'm just not sure if it's unachievable for the mere mortal!

Hi all, I'm new to this thread, I seemed to find my way here after buying the lucky dip from Nails Inc.

I went to a carboot sale today and managed to pick up about 20 nail art pens for £2. They're not the best quality but I definitely will be having some fun with them! I will be trying out a Kidston-esque design this aft ;)

I did wean myself off nail varnishes a few years back, but there are so many exciting ones to choose at the moment! I would really like the OPI muppet collection :D
