I'm not 100% sure with this one.
I've read through a lot of past posts about CS recruitment and they all seem to say you need at least a 3 in every section to pass. If you get a 2 or less in any of the competencies you wouldn't pass.
I think the highest is 5 for each one so it could be out of 20.0 -

Good luck to everyone! Hope everyone gets a job.
No, I had an email saying the interviews for both positions are the same so only had to be interviewed once.
Has anyone else gone for both AA & AO or has anyone heard back about their AO application yet?
Oh, that's interesting. A friend of mine went for both AA + AO but she had 2 interviews; AA interview early December, AO mid Jan. I don't think she's heard anything yet because I'm pretty certain I would have had a text or phone call asking how I had got on also.0 -

You need to be more optimistic Ace
3 and above is a 'pass' and there were a couple of posters at the start of this thread that were offered a job after scoring all 3's - so don't give up hope yet0 -
Hi, anyone hear any more about their AO applications yet?0
-
Still waiting to hear, here - frustrating isn't it?
AceofSpades - 4 competencies? Was it 4 for the AA positions?
It was only 3 for the AO.0 -
I would be amazed if you needed 4 to be an AA and only 3 for AO, as AO is a higher grade !.
When I joined ( 20 + years ago) all I did was send in a CV, then complete an application and have an interview.
There was none of this competency rubbish !0 -
The number of competencies confused me also as both job descriptions only showed 3 competencies. In fact both applications were identical.0

Hi there,
The number of compentencies for AO positions is definitely only 3.
I have had my interview scores back now and they were marked out of 15 overall, giving a mark out of 5 for each compentancy.
I also have spoke to a friend who already works here and they have confirmed that 15 is the highest mark you can get for the interview and that it is only marked on 3 compentencies.
Hope this has helped clear up a little confusion.
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear back! xx0 -
Hi
Maybe Ace of Spades interview was for a different HMRC position/location than some others on here are discussing? (Only a thought?)
I only say this from experience. The last HMRC vacancy I applied for was the AA jobs in Washington (had my interview in December and received formal offer on Thursday). This vacancy had three competencies (as did the AO jobs in this area, at this time).
However, in September last year, I had an interview for an AO position with HMRC. At that time, they used four competencies.
I believe HMRC adapt their approach as appropriate and it doesn't necessarily follow that a specific grade recruits each time, using the same number of competencies.
Good luck to everyone still waiting xx0 -
I didn't think of that Luke, but that sounds more likely.
Think I will stop checking this thread now and wait for their decision.
Best of luck to everyone. I will come back if (or to be positive) when I get the job. Xx0
