  • I know the waiting is klng me, any more information on when we will contacted from after filling health form its already been 3 weeks.has any of the other aa heard anything from the other locations.
  • I applied for AO in Preston back in December, had an interview on the 19th Jan. Had to wait weeks before being told I had a conditional offer while awaiting for pre employment checks etc.

I had the email requesting two references and medical and also had my CRB come through (this did say AO washington on it and was also a little worried)

But last week I had an email come through with an officaial offer letter and I start work at the Unicentre on Monday 4th March :)

Hope you all get something through soon! If any of you have also had your offer to start at Preston, what do we wear? Starting to panic a little!
  • Hi how do they contact is it on the website or do they phone you. Dnt knw when aa,s will hear
  • They sent me through an email with 'CSR/1556/12 Formal Offer Letter (Amended)' in the subject line (amended as they changed the location to go to on the first date. I am not sure if they are doing the staggered start dates across March like at Newcastle and so sending out the offer letters also in batches.
    Hope you hear back soon!

As your not dealing with the public in person then you can wear anything reasonable.

As a bloke, I wear trainers, dark jogging bottoms and a clean T shirt (with no offensive messages/designs on the front) and I also make sure that I smell clean & fresh everyday .

Having worked previously with someone with a personal hygiene problem who wouldnt take the hint from us & their manager - smelling nice is important !.

I am meant to start 11 march at Preston awaiting on confirmed offer and refs to come back. I am going with smart casual. I know a lot of offices to jeans casual now etc. But best to do smart casual then see what everyone else is wearing. What score did you get? Are you a 6 or 12 month contract ? Thanks

Does anyone know of a contact telephone number for the recruitment team?

The last email I received said... 'Unfortunately after completing our standard pre-appointment checks into your eligibility for employment they have proved to be unsatisfactory.
Therefore we regret to inform you that on this occasion it has been decided to withdraw our Conditional Offer of employment
    .'

I can only assume this is down to my CRB not being clean. Admittedly, I was no angel when I was younger and made a few mistakes, but that was 26+ years ago and if those times are being held against me I really need to know.

Congratulations to all those who have had the formal offer to start :T , I'm just a bit pee'd off (understatement) I won't be there with you

I don't have a clue what score I got, where did everyone find that bit out? It is a 12 month contract completing at the end of march 2014. I think I will go smart casual aswell and then see aswell (I am sure we will all be doing the same :) )

Hi sorry to hear you didnt get through :( I dont have a number either for the team, although everything sent to me seems to have been from Washington so maybe look there?
I thought things only stay on your crb for a limited number of yesrs..you should have recieved a copy of the crb through the post detailing any convictions aswell as the company.
Hope you find out why soon!!

It's a nightmare trying to find a contact phone number. I sent an email on Friday evening to an address I found on the civil service log in site, so hopefully someone will read that on Monday and get back to me.

Most convictions are considered 'spent' after 7 years and you don't need to declare them on Job applications unless specifically asked to, but they never disappear.(An employer has to have a good reason to apply for crb - usually working with vulnerable adults/children).

edit: Oh how frustrating. I was just checking today's laws on 3 convictions I have on my CRB. In two days time new laws are coming into effect which, if they had been in place 26 years ago, would mean I wouldn't have even been arrested.
'Spent' 4 times+ over but coming back to haunt me good style.

Did you have to provide a normal CRB or an enahanced CRB for this job ?

That could be the reason why HMRC said no to you.
