I received an email asking for references as well as my crb check. Pretty pleased.

I don't think though they do crb check for everyone who attended the interview. I remember when I was applying for DWP they stressed that if the interview was not successful crb check is not going to be conducted. So I guess it applies to all civil service posts...
  • Got a conditional offer as long as pre employment checks go well!! This vacancy is for a customer advisor, once in the civil service is there opportunities to apply for internal roles or will I just work until the F.T.C comes to an end???

Lots of scope to move about the civil service. Once you've seen out your probation, plus any specified minimum time in post that there may be, then you can apply for roles in your department or other government departments. You will see what's about on the CS Jobs website. I know people of various grades jump between the MOD to the Home Office and elsewhere.

Depends on how you were recruited.

There are restrictions placed on job eligibility such as :

If you are recruited as a T(emporary) F(ixed) T(erm) Appointment or TFTA you may not be eligible to apply for a permanent job - any restrictions will be explained in the job advert.

Me, as an established civil servant *could* apply for anything I fancied (provided I pass the online tests) - but I dont want to, as I am an AO who has been top of the AO payscale for 21 years and cant be bothered !.

Good luck to you all !.
