In my opinion they shouldn't, not on the invite.0

This topic is rather popular on here..... I will try and hunt out the most recent thread.
Personally I wouldn't ask for anything, especially on an invitation If a guest would like to know what gift to give they could tell them then when asked, but I wouldn't assume a gift is coming.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
No, not on the invite, most guests will ask you, or your mums/dads, thats the time to do it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

We are after money as we already have a house and lived here for 3 years so have everything...
we did not put any gift request on the invites at all in the hope that most people will see this as we are after cash, or would ask us and we can tell them!0 -
My son was in the same position recently. They said something along the lines of 'Most of you know D & P have been living together for some time now. As a result they already have most household items. If you would like to make a monetary contribution to the deposit for their house, this would be most welcome (but not expected)Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

me and Mrs SB want a new kitchen..
in our wedding invites we put in small writing at the bottom....
We do not expect gifts from our friends on our wedding day, We will both be overjoyed to just party hard in to the night surrounded by family and friends.
If you feel a compelling urge to buy us gifts, we would greatly accept Ikea vouchers.
our invites where very informal though as we are not pompous, we just want to make sure that everyone has a great evening!Mortgage free wannabe!
Total mortgage = £106k
Monthly payments = £523
Extra monthly Payments = £500
Total extra paid in 2012 = £5000 -
Sorry, there is no good way to ask for money. Certainly not on an invitation!0

Aren't there online wedding list websites where guests think they are buying you items but actually you just keep the cash? Not sure I agree with them...but sure they exist as my ex-OH's sister used one when she got married. My parents were actually quite upset when they found out she never actually got the fancy vase they thought they bought, she just kept it as cash instead.0

I have never heard of these sites either, I think I would be upset too. You'd think the site would state it, mind how would it even explain it :rotfl:Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
