jobbingmusician wrote:I may have misunderstood, but I don't think the previous poster was implying that the OP's manager should not be involved because of his/her Ebay trading. ACAS guidelines recommend that the investigator of a disciplinary should NOT be the line manager, but someone impartial
The investigator normally is the line manager, usually with another person. The one who actually HOLDS the hearing - it's best if they are not the person's immediate line manager.
These aren't strong guidelines though in the way that a lot of the others are - all the insurance underwriters (lots of companies insure out their risk against tribunals etc) are happy with direct line manager holding hearing, because now there must be an appeals procedure and that is always to a third party. So any risk is managed at that stage.0 -

Recieving Spam at work is not something you can be told off for or diciplined for. You are not in control of what mail you recieve - you can only control what you send or forward. If the company wants to reduce spam it is up to them to set up a proper spam filter on the mail server end of things or install spam filters locally on the machines.
All you can do is alert the company to the SPAM and then delete it.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Brilliant news, looks like they shot themselves in the foot by not checking things out in the first place. Do you really want to stay there or will you be looking for another job now? I think i would, you're worth more than that. Good luck with whatever you decide to do0

Its really weird I don't know how I feel, this has been so devestating to me and their evidence and investigation has been so appalling and I don't know if I am being called back because I am valued or they did not have enough (this time!) to get rid of me.... I also don't know if any conditions are going to be levied at me i.e, change of work place (its possible that the office might merge with one 40 miles away and its in my contract that we will work from anywhere) I also don't know if there is going to be a 'gagging' order..... will find out soon enough!! The thing is I really enjoy my job and the people I support so am loathed to give it up...... but I feel so dismayed at what has happened... I have been advised to go back with a list of conditions i.e, that the terminal must not be accessed by other people, passwords to be secure, etc.... but actually my list is huge to include cookie information other wise I shall be to scared to access the internet ever again even though we do have to for work reasons and research....... well I will see what next week brings.... I don't feel this 'over' rather that it might be just beginning which is daunting to say the least0
