It will be very interesting to see what the atmosphere is going to be like as my line manager I am sure will have been spoken to about undermining the internet policy as he gave permission. I also did implicate him at the invetigation meeting as he was most likely to have been at the termianl when another managers email was accessed as I had gone home. I was not saying it had been done just that the evidence was not realiable. I asked if Everyone had been investigated and I was told no but that this would happen. We are supposed to have a meeting with another manager up the scale this week so don't even know what this is about..... I'll let you know.
A meeting with another manager up the scale sounds like a good time to bring it up. There may well be an atmosphere with your own manager cos he will have had his knuckles well rapped. Best thing is to get him at coffee time and have a chat about it, saying that you are sure he can understand that in such a serious situation, with your job at risk, you needed to be open about everything. Once he's got over it, I'm sure he'll be able to see it is just one of those things.
And yes please, do let me know what happens. I'm quite curious now.0 -

What is worrying about the evidence that has been presented is that presumably (especially as I did access the emails in the first place) it could all happen again??? Also if they are under the illusion that all the cookies are web sites then even in the course of regular research I would be creating cookies that cannot be explained??? it is very worrying and unless they come up with a set of measures that will ensure I will not be implicated in the future I will be terrified to switch the damn terminal on!!!! I guess I will see what happens this week and report back
Look after No 1. :T

Just to let everyone know my first day back has gone quite well .... we have a new team leader for our office (the old one is remaining else where) we have asked for an apology and a full explanation as to how false evidence could have been compiled and I have given a list of security advice for the computer system to keep me safe at work. This was received warmly. The manager was great and kept on talking about a new start, lets go forward from here etc... so I think this is what I am prepared to do....however, both my colleague and I are going to have a meeting with the HR manager and my colleague is meeting with the CE...... I have learned so much about myself and the generosity of others over this and I would just like to extend again my warmest and heartfelt thanks to all those who helped me and please if anyone else has the misfortune to experience the same...please PM me and I will help all I can (have already posted to Jennifer1978) over and out xxxxx0
