I need to buy 2 desktop pcs for work. They need to be 32 bit, not 64 bit, to run a particular programme. Been to PC world but there's were mainly 64. Could only offer to sell me Windows 7 pack with a computer for extra £100 with each one which would do the job.
Can anyone point me in right direction. I was hoping to pay around £300 each.

What are the progs you want to run?
There is a feature on Win 7 - xp mode that will let you run old antique software, but you need 7 Pro or better - whether its 32 or 64 bit would be irrelevant. I am running this muself for software that I like but the company has decided not to upgrade for win 7. google it and see if it would do the job for you...0 -
Computers have been 64 bit for years, its the (Wndows) operating system thats only recently moved to 64bit.
Windows 7 comes in many "flavours" (home basic, premium, ulimate etc) and 2 bittness (OK thats the best word I could come up with); 32 and 64.
You're best start would be not to go to PC world.0 -
What else do they need to do/have?
Do you need a monitor as well?

This comes with keyboard and mouse and I am assuming it is Windows 32 bit but you'd be better off asking them first.
And it comes with Office which I assume you will need.Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. As you can probably tell, i don't really know what I'm talking about. Ive just been told to get 32 bit. It seems that I need Windows 7 pro and these machines seem to be more expensive.0

why not buy a base unit without a operating system installed and then install one to meet your needs, there is a couple on ebuyer for ~£200 (although they come with 8gb of ram which would be wasted since 32 bit operating systems cant see or use any more than 4gb) and windows can usually be got for under £100

although i would suggest you goggle the software you want to use with 64 bit and see if it will actually run as i just wouldnt trust one persons information on it just incase they have misunderstoodDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

Be careful.... without knowing the software you want to run, you may well find that win 7/32 won't run it either. If I were you I'd find out the software that you want to run first,,,,,,,
If it turns out you do need XP Mode (have you googled it?) , there is a cheaper way to get win 7 Pro - buy the Home version then get the win 7 anytime upgrade see here:

It will probably work, the vast majority of software is 32 bit, and works on 64 bit systems.
You need more information to choose the window7 version, does it need to join a domain?!!

You could always buy 2 of these http://www.ebuyer.com/339477-zoostorm-desktop-7873-1055
and two of these http://www.ebuyer.com/259862-microsoft-windows-7-home-premium-w-sp1-licence-and-media-1-gfc-02021
and you will well within budget. Just need to load the operating system yourself.0
