and you will well within budget. Just need to load the operating system yourself.
I'm getting slow in my old age- stll, great minds think alike:D0 -
It will probably work, the vast majority of software is 32 bit, and works on 64 bit systems.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questionsMost programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for the 32-bit version of Windows don't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows. To learn how to check for drivers, see Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly or go to the device manufacturer's website. You can also get information about drivers by going to the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor webpage.0 -
I believe, when you buy Windows 7, you get two discs to install from - 32 or 64-bit Windows. You can use the serial with either version, and it will be fine.
So in theory, if you went and bought a 64-bit computer, you should be able to use the serial to install the 32-bit version of Windows!
Don't hold me to this, mind.0 -

Your link whilst not clear relates to Windows 7 - we don't know what the OP, or his colleagues want to run on WIn 7 - so I think it might be misleading with some of these comments - but would better all round if the OP was more clear on what his colleagues wanted to install on Win 7 - you may be right, but we don't know.0 -
If it is for work, and you need to run older software, plenty of places sell refurbished machines running and supplied with legitimate Windows XP Pro for about £130 + VAT, no monitor.
Here is an example.

Misco
Have just bought a Fujitsu desktop (64 bit cpu) that comes installed with 64bit W7 BUT they supply recovery discs which have both 64 bit AND 32 bit installations, so used the 32 bit with no problem.
When I loked on their site about 10th Jan, they said about recovery discs, but now they do not, however this was the one purchased
http://www.misco.co.uk/product/192221/Fujitsu-Esprimo-E400-SFF-PC-plus-FREE-3-Year-Warranty.
Suggest you call them if you are interested and confirm they still supply both 32 and 64 bit recovery discs.
Although it is a desktop it will quite happily work on its side, just becareful when using cd unit.0 -
Many thanks for all this info. Im just ploughing through it now. I am sure the answer to my dilemma is there somewhere. Will let you know when I've looked into it a bit more.0
