Any program that will work on an arbitrary 32-bit x86 computer will work on a 64-bit x86 computer, unless it is specifically designed not to do so. Whether it will work with a 64-bit operating system is another question.

    Timothy,

Please don't be offended but I don't believe that yr post is sufficently correct in that you would put yr life on it. I have evidence of software that doesn't work on win7 eg Scansoft's webcapture program for one, as well as Office 2k as mentioned above. 3rd party developers didn't go out of their way to make their stuff incompatible with "future software", its just they don't believe upgrades are either cost effective or compatible with current strategy.

I really did not think this would cause such a stir. I do not want to give too much detail about the software other than the company has a technical dept. and have insisted that it won't run on 64bit. Just following their advice. I have enough advice to make a decision now. Many thanks to you all.
  • about half the pc's from pc world have the option to install the 32 bit version via the recovery patrician. Just ask them to check the box for you
