Royal Mail -a law unto themselves !!!!!

Sorry - I know I said I wasn't returning but feel compelled to, firstly to thank Mammamoo for understanding the purpose of my post and secondly to reply to custardy, who I feel is attacking me for a problem he has with his former employers!!
I have just taken the following from Royal Mail's website:-
"One of the most popular postal services, First Class mail aims to deliver your letter or packet the next working day, including Saturday.- Normally delivers next working day
- Maximum weight 20kg
- Stamps available in books, sheets or rolls
- Free certificate of posting available"
Secondly, at no point have I attacked the postman/woman - only the service provided by Royal Mail. In fact, my husband's best friend has been a postie for the last 30 years and I am fully aware of the cuts to the service, how much longer his round now is and how unfair and downright ridiculous the rules and regulations he now has to abide by are. well I never said you did
Perhaps if you re-read my original post perhaps you need to learn what a quote function means and see what I was actually complaining about you wouldn't use this thread to 'vent' back at me about something that really isn't my fault !!!!
well it is
you are whining because an item never arried within a tight timescale, and you will need to buy tickets at double the price
1st class isnt a service to use when this is the case
I note you opted not to pay the train company £6 for delivery. so you chose to take a cheaper option that didnt fit your purpose.0 -
I have to say I don't often come on this Board - perhaps I'll stick to the ones I usually use where people are a bit more supportive.
Yes. Sadly there are some rather unpleasant people who love to hang around this forum and get snarky with people who have problems.
I suppose it makes up for something in their probably inadequate little lives. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

None of which changes the fact that Royal Mail have been inept. Again.0 -

yes Im sure.thanks for your input
however as usual its someone who created a problem for themselves
Interesting they treat 1st class as a guaranteed next day service. no doubt on past experince0 -

One day, Custardy will let someone vent about RM without jumping down their throat and blaming them.
OP didn't treat it as A guaranteed next day service, but if paying for first class, I'd expect it to have arrived 5 days later!0 -

Or that the OP used the wrong service.0 -

That may be true but it is pathetic that you have to pay RM so much just to ensure they do what they are supposed to do.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Custard operates on a hair trigger.
Anything vaguely postal in a thread and he 'goes postal'.
??? Custardy is perfectly reasonable and reasonably polite.
Custardy uses his knowledge of the system to help inform people. It seems some people would prefer that people pretend that the world is how they see it, rather than as it is.
I'm sorry the OP has lost out, but s/he did make a silly mistake, and it would be patronising and unhelpful to pretend otherwise. The OP assumed that they'd paid for a premium service, while all they'd paid for was for the postman to get a signature when the item was delivered. Between that point and the post office it was the normal 1st class service.
Now I appreciate that you feel put out, but that is only partly Royal Mail's fault, it is also partly your own fault for making an unreasonable assumption.
I'm not telling you off here for making a mistake, because of course all of us make stupid mistakes. There's no shame in making a stupid mistake, but making a stupid mistake and refusing to admit it and accept responsibility for your mistake is incredibly rude. Yes, even when that mistake only makes you partly responsible for the consequences, refusing to accept your part of the responsibility is rude.
People who stand up to such rudeness are not being snarky, they are being nice by standing up for good manners.0
