I forgot to mention...the set is full HD at 1080 as I've tested this using the VGA input and checking the screen resolution, the problem is the HDCP issue.

Only popped back here to tell you that i just read an article concerning HDCP compliance and it stated that not every HDMI port on a TV will be HDCP compliant so i just wondered if you had tried out all the HDMI ports on the TV. You probabley have but just passing on what i read. My Blueray player worked through the top HDMI connection but had to connect up the AV cables for sound and according to the article , i would have got an error message of some sort if it wasn't compliant.
Hope you get it sorted anyway.
P.S. Kogan TV's are made in China as well. Can't get away from the Chinese eh!

Thanks for the info...I've tried 2 out of the 3 but I'll try all of them to see if it works.

There's got to be something funny going on if your Blueray player is playing disks OK as they are obviously copyright protected as well.

If you could let me know what message you get on the screen by pressing INFO on Mansion's remote when playing a Blueray disk I'd be very grateful. It should tell you the resolution.

    Cheers.

By the way, it's also a bit odd that you have to connect separate audio to get sound. This should be taken care of by the HDMI cable. As you probably already know, DVI connections are only video but HDMI should take care of both. Don't you get any sound from the in-built speakers on the TV from your Blueray player or are you using separate speakers from the TV for audio?

    4. Yes, i agree, i shouldn't have condemned the entire forum but it has not filled me with confidence about seeking advice on any subject here due to how things have gone on this thread. ... ....
It's worth remembering that this is the "Techie Forum". From my experience, I, and many others, have found this site extremely useful in seeking such advice and it's one of the better forums I've come across. There are some very dedicated contributors who are willing to spend their time in helping others out and also warning people of the many pitfalls that today's technologies (and how they can be exploited by the unscrupulous) have in store for not-so-techie-savvy. I would not dismiss it on the experiences of this one thread which is by no way typical.
Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

Check the audio output settings on the blu ray player. Try altering them.

  • Nice to see the school playground is still continuing.

Just an update - I still have no refund, which and I quote from Mansions, was 'g-teed' to be with me on Thursday *(yesterday) at the latest! Ahem seems like I am going to have the same fun trying to get this refund as I did trying to get a tele.

Hmmmm...although I said I would only post one more time I felt I had to comment.
